Wolff bezoekt opvanglocatie Oekraïense vluchtelingen

De Formule 1-wereld realiseert zich dit seizoen maar al te goed dat er meer gaande is in de wereld. De oorlog in Oekraïne maakt een diepe indruk op de teams en coureurs, meerdere kopstukken steunden de Oekraïners. Sebastian Vettel reed bijvoorbeeld met een helm met de Oekraïense vlag en de coureurs maakten voorafgaand het seizoen een statement.

Ook bij het team van Mercedes kwam de situatie in Oekraïne hard aan. De Duitse renstal zet zich wel vaker in voor maatschappelijke kwesties en dat is ook nu weer het geval. In maart bezochten teambaas Toto Wolff en zijn vrouw Susie al een vluchtelingenkamp in Jordanië. Nu de oorlog in Oekraïne is uitgebroken spraken ze ook daar hun steun uit aan de vluchtelingen. De Wolffs bezochten met het UNHCR een opvang in Warschau, Polen.

    Prima, kom maar uit die bubble en stap soms weer in de realiteit. Een wk verliezen in de laatste ronde doet pijn maar het is niks vergeleken met je alles verliezen en zelfs geen plek meer hebben om te wonen. Het is appels met peren vergelijken maar soms helpt het wel om te relativeren.

    Goed dat hij zich ook inzet voor het maatschappelijke bewustzijn. Zul je dan de andere teambazen niet snel zien. Ook zoals hij antwoordde op een vraag over Brexit destijds liet wel zien dat hij breder ingesteld is dan alleen de autosport en dus ook een maatschappelijk oog heeft.

      En wat heeft Brexit ermee te maken ?
      Je roept meer vragen op dan je beantwoordt. en intussen is het maatschappelijk bewustzijn van Wolff alleen nog maar te verklaren in het kader van Mercedes als merk.

      @RJH Volgens mij is het niet zo lastig om te begrijpen wat ik zeg. Dat hij zich geroepen voelt om dot te doen gaat vooraf aan dat hij daadwerkelijk zich ervoor inzet.

      En bracht heeft niet met de specifieke zaak te maken waar hij zich nu voor inzet, maar zijn commentaar tijdens de persconferentie toen er vragen over gesteld werden toonde aan dat hij het bredere perspectief en het algemene beleid in ogenschouw had en niet alleen dacht over of het vervelend zou zijn voor heb als team.
