Alonso twijfelt aan salarisplafond voor coureurs

Sinds vorig seizoen werkt men in de Formule 1 met een budgetplafond. Alle tien de Formule 1-teams mogen dit seizoen niet meer dan 140 miljoen dollar uitgeven aan meerdere zaken. Niet alles valt echter onder het veelbesproken budgetplafond, het salaris van de coureurs is hier bijvoorbeeld geen onderdeel van.

Maar er bestaat een kans dat er binnenkort ook een plafond komt voor het salaris van de coureurs. Meerdere teams zouden dit namelijk een goed idee vinden, zo werd eind vorige maand duidelijk. De coureurs staan niet bepaald achter dit plan, de manager van Max Verstappen was er in Monaco bijvoorbeeld al zeer fel op tegen.

Promotie

Ook Alpine-coureur Fernando Alonso ziet het plan niet bepaald zitten. De Spaanse tweevoudig wereldkampioen ziet het niet als een goede oplossing. Tegenover Motorsport.com spreekt Alonso zich uit: "Ik denk niet dat het nodig is. Coureurs zijn altijd buiten schot gebleven. Ik denk dat ze ons als coureurs steeds vaker inzetten voor promotie voor de Formule 1. We doen meer en meer evenementen en we komen meer in contact met de fans."

Profiteren

Alonso loopt al geruime tijd mee in de sport en hij merkt dus dat er iets is veranderd. De Spaanse coureur trekt dan ook zijn conclusies en is van mening dat men bij de sport juist positief kan profiteren van de coureurs. Alonso gebruikt dit dan ook in zijn argumentatie: "Ze vragen steeds meer van ons en daar profiteren ze dan weer van. Dus daarom zouden we buiten het plafond moeten blijven. Maar het is wel een ingewikkelde zaak."

Ik begrijp het salaris plafon niet. De budgetcap is er zodat de auto's gelijkwaardiger worden en coureurs het verschil kunnen maken en dan komt er nu een salarisplafon zodat teams met de beste coureurs minder de auto kunnen upgraden zodat de latifi's van de f1 net zo veel kans hebben als leclerc max en lewis. 🤷

Ach, zo'n salaris plafond is een wassen neus. Dan krijgen de coureurs direct betaald via de sponsoren voor het PR werk wat ze doen in plaats van via het team.
