Verstappen kijkt uit naar Canadese Grand Prix: "Moeten blijven pushen"

Max Verstappen won afgelopen weekend de Azerbeidzjaanse Grand Prix en breidde zijn voorsprong in het wereldkampioenschap uit. De Nederlandse Red Bull-coureur heeft het momentum weer stevig in handen en kan aankomend weekend weer aan de bak. Het Formule 1-circus reist af naar Montreal voor de Canadese Grand Prix.

Vanwege het coronavirus ontbrak de Grand Prix de afgelopen twee jaar op de kalender. Nu keert het circus dus weer terug op de wereldberoemde omloop. Voor Verstappen is het de ideale kans om zijn forse voorsprong op teamgenoot Sergio Perez en Ferrari-coureur Charles Leclerc nog verder uit te breiden.

Uniek

De Nederlander kijkt in ieder geval reikhalzen uit naar de terugkerende Grand Prix. Verstappen kan gaan jagen op een tweede zege op rij en deelt op Verstappen.com zijn verwachtingen: "We zijn al een tijdje niet meer in Montreal geweest. Het is mooi om terug te keren en te zien hoe de baan is. Het circuit heeft een nogal unieke lay-out en het is ook interessant om te zien hoe het asfalt erbij ligt. Hopelijk presteert onze auto er goed dit weekend."

Pushen

De Canadese Grand Prix is bij veel coureurs één van de favorieten. Ook bij Verstappen is dat niet anders en de huidig WK-leider heeft er zin in: "Ik kijk er altijd naar uit om naar Montreal te gaan. Het is een prachtige stad. Met de 1-2 uit Bakoe zou het geweldig zijn om Canada te verlaten met dezelfde score. Het is geweldig dat we bovenaan staan in de kampioenschappen maar er is nog een lange weg te gaan. We moeten als team blijven pushen en zoveel mogelijk punten scoren."

  Singapore ook krappe bochten maar volgens mij is de motor ook belangrijk daar. Japan is volgens mij ook een power circuit.
