Verstappen leunt niet achterover: "We hebben nog te weinig poles"

Max Verstappen arriveert dit weekend in Canada als de grote favoriet. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur gaat ruim aan de leiding in het wereldkampioenschap en won afgelopen weekend de Grand Prix van Azerbeidzjan. In Canada kan hij opzoek gaan naar een nieuwe zege en een ruimere voorsprong in het wereldkampioenschap.

Verstappen heeft momenteel een topvorm te pakken. De Nederlandse Red Bull-coureur viel dit seizoen tweemaal uit maar finishte in alle andere races op het podium, alleen in Monaco bracht hem dat geen zege. Toch is het nog geen gelopen zaak, de strijd met Ferrari is nog altijd niet voorbij en Verstappen ziet verbeterpunten.

Vertrouwen

Op de gebruikelijke persconferentie op de vrijdag schoof Verstappen rond de klok van 11:30 lokale tijd aan. De Nederlander werd daar gevraagd of zijn vertrouwen is gegroeid door zijn goede resultaten. Verstappen was nogal duidelijk in zijn antwoord: "Het draait niet om vertrouwen. We hebben inderdaad een paar goede races gehad maar het seizoen duurt nog lang. We moeten iets extra's gaan vinden want we hebben te weinig poles gepakt. Het is allemaal veel makkelijker als we vooraan starten"

Porpoising

In Canada draait het vooral om de maatregelen die de FIA gisteravond heeft genomen. Na veel kritiek en zorgen heeft men namelijk besloten om in te grijpen op het gebied van porpoising. Verstappen is daar niet bepaald blij mee: "Je gaat op zoek naar de limiet van wat je lichaam kan hebben, dat is wel duidelijk. Het is wel een beetje vreemd dat er nu ingegrepen gaat worden. Je kan gewoon de rijhoogte van de auto aanpassen en dan heb je dit probleem ook niet."

Hopelijk beslist de FIA snel dat de Red Bull illegaal is. Dan kan de beter rijder ooit zijn 8e, en eigenlijk zijn 9e wereldtitel, halen. En dat allemaal zonder hulp van de FIA, maar gewoon omdat hij de beste was, en niet omdat hij in een superieure Red Bull zat ..

  Helaas is er niets aan te doen. Je kan verbannen wat je wil. Zelf rol ik dan een VM uit met een unieke footprint en ontsluit internet via een VPN. Kom je rond elke verbanning.

  Verstappen fans bashen Ferrari, Mercedes, Hamilton en leclerc. En ook hun supporters.
  Hamilton fans doen dit met die andere twee en Leclerc fans doen het, juist met die anderen.
  
  Aan de andere kant zijn er heel veel fans die wel normaal doen. Gelukkig maar.
