Verstappen tevreden: "Dit was een positieve dag"

Max Verstappen kan tevreden terugkijken op zijn vrijdag in Montreal. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur was in allebei de vrije trainingen de snelste en kende bijna geen problemen. De concurrentie van teamgenoot Sergio Perez en Ferrari waren overduidelijk langzamer dan de huidige wereldkampioenschapsleider.

Verstappen kende eerder dit seizoen regelmatig veel problemen op de vrijdag. Daardoor moest hij meermaals veel werk verzetten om toch nog goede prestaties neer te zetten in de kwalificatie en de race. Ditmaal lijkt het er echter op dat dit niet het geval is, hij was zeer snel in de eerste twee trainingen en de concurrentie zal zichzelf achter de oren krabben.

Goede start

De Nederlandse coureurs was zelf ook in zijn nopjes met zijn vrijdag. Na afloop deelde hij zijn opvattingen op zijn eigen site Verstappen.com: "Het was een positieve dag. Natuurlijk kijk je naar een aantal dingen om extra balans te vinden maar over het algemeen was het een goede start van het weekend. Met de banden ging het ook goed, de zachtste band is altijd het moeilijkst maar het lukte. We hebben een competitieve auto dus dat is goed."

Long run

Verstappen merkte dat de vooruitzichten voor de rest van het weekend ook goed zijn. De Nederlander heeft dan ook goede hoop en toont zich zeer tevreden: "De long run ging heel erg goed maar het circuit was wel lastig voor de banden en voor de remmen. We hebben nog wel een paar dingen die we moeten verbeteren maar desondanks hadden we een heel erg goede dag."
