Horner heeft vertrouwen en complimenteert Sainz: "Ook al snel toen hij voor ons reed"

Het team van Red Bull Racing leek te kunnen profiteren van de natte weersomstandigheden op Silverstone. De wagen van het Oostenrijkse team bleek eerder in dit seizoen immers al zeer vlot in de natte omstandigheden. Max Verstappen leek op weg naar een simpele pole maar in de slotfase van de kwalificatie had hij pech.

Verstappen spinde in de slotminuten en in zijn laatste rondje werd hij gehinderd door een gele vlag. Hierdoor kon de Nederlander de tijd van Carlos Sainz niet meer uit de boeken rijden. De Spaanse Ferrari-coureur pakte zijn eerste pole en deelt de eerste startrij morgen met Verstappen. Sergio Perez reed in de andere Red Bull de vierde tijd.

Demon

Na afloop van de kwalificatie overheerste er tevredenheid bij Red Bull, ondanks de redelijk tegenvallende uitslag. Teambaas Christian Horner toonde zijn sportieve kant en feliciteerde bij Sky Sports eerste eventjes polesitter Sainz: "Charles had een soort halve spin en daardoor moest Max remmen vanwege de gele vlaggen. Mijn felicitaties gaan naar Carlos. Hij was altijd al een soort demon in de regen. Hij was ook altijd sterk in de natte omstandigheden toen hij nog voor ons reed."

Eerste startrij

Horner zag eveneens dat Verstappen de pole voor het grijpen had. De spin en de gele vlaggen verhinderden dat maar Horner maakt zich niet druk: "Max had een momentje met een spin van 180 graden en verloor slechts twee seconden op de lijn. Het is jammer dat hij die laatste ronde niet kon voltooien maar het feit dat we op de eerste startrij staan is al heel erg goed voor ons."

Komt goed. niks aan de hand. Max moet vooral zorgen dat hij voor Leclerc eindigt, en als dat het doel is wint hij hem ook gewoon. zekerheidje. of hij moet eraf geramd worden of pech krijgen, maar ik verwacht een simpele zege. verder gunde ik dit die Sainz wel. goede gozer, en hij erkende meteen dat hij geluk had.

  Laten we hopen dat Max jou tips meeneemt en voor lec probeert te finishen.
  Je moet zo’n rondje wel eerst uitrijden en ook zonder geel in sector 2.
  Bij ziggo gaven ze aan dat Max in sector 3 ook tijd verloor door een fout en daat was geen geel.

Nou, als Max morgen wint dan kom ik hier dit jaar niet meer. Is geen lol aan zo. Beetje trollen als Max niet op 1 staat is leuk, maar zo kan ik niks aan mijn eigenwaarde doen...
