Kvyat reageert gevat op pensioen Vettel

Viervoudig wereldkampioen Sebastian Vettel maakte gisteren bekend dat hij na dit seizoen met pensioen gaat. De aankondiging van de Duitse Aston Martin-coureur kwam voor velen als een verrassing. Na het bericht stroomden de complimenten voor de zeer succesvolle Vettel binnen op de sociale media, waar Vettel sinds gisteren ook op zit.

Ook voormalig Formule 1-coureur Daniil Kvyat liet gisteren van zich horen. De Russische coureur en Vettel hadden het in het verleden meermaals met elkaar aan de stok. Vettel noemde zijn Russische collega een torpedo, een bijnaam waar hij niet meer vanaf kwam. Op sociale media verwijst Kvyat dan ook naar deze incidenten met een grote knipoog: "Niet meer te vroeg remmen!"

      In principe is het de schuld van Vettel dat Max nu wereldkampioen is. Die ging verhaal halen bij Horner. Kvyat exit en de rest is geschiedenis.

      Dus Vettel heeft wat te goed van Max.

    Achteraf is makkelijk praten natuurlijk, maar Kvyat had nooit bij Ferrari weg moeten gaan als ontwikkelingscoureur.
    Hij kon als geen ander de rijstijlen van de coureurs kopiëren en zo zeer waardevolle feedback geven, Kvyat werd bijzonder gewaardeerd bij Ferrari.
    Een vorstelijk salaris, prettige auto van de zaak, een zitje bij het WEC team in het vooruitzicht en genieten van La Dolce Vita, what´s not to like?

      Al was Kvyat bij Ferrari gebleven, dan is de vraag wat Ferrari met Kvyat had mogen doen sinds de intrede van de diverse sancties.
      Je kan in de EU nog steeds gewoon Russen aannemen als personeel, maar de vraag is of een F1 team dit onder de huidige omstandigheden zou willen.
      Situatie Mazepin was overduidelijk, daar ging het om een zakelijke deal tussen vader Urakali en Haas, die vanwege sancties geen voortgang kon vinden, waardoor ook Nikita z'n stoeltje verloor.
      Afijn, we zullen het nooit weten.
