Gasly met raceleiding in gesprek over aanpak baanlimiet

Pierre Gasly heeft zich na een slecht kwalificatieresultaat bij de Grand Prix van Hongarije in de race niet terug weten te vechten richting een plaats binnen de top tien. Gasly’s rondje in de eerste kwalificatiesessie werd door de raceleiding afgenomen vanwege het overschrijden van de baanlimiet. Na de kwalificatiesessie is Gasly in gesprek gegaan met de raceleiding over de beoordelingen van de baanlimiet.

Gasly’s snelste tijd in de eerste kwalificatiesessie werd afgepakt vanwege een baanlimiet overschrijding. De Fransoos was er echter stellig van overtuigt dat hij niet buiten de baan was gekomen en dat het terugfluiten van zijn rondetijd niet geplaatst was. Niet alleen Gasly was de pisang; Ook teamgenoot Yuki Tsunoda, Haas-coureur Mick Schumacher en Red Bull-coureur Sergio Perez zagen hun tijden op de meetborden in rook opgaan.

Het lijkt erop dat de strengere aanpak van de baanlimieten sinds de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk een nieuw probleem aan het licht brengt. Gasly laat in gesprek met RaceFans weten dat hij flink ‘kwaad’ was. “Op basis van de beelden die ik gezien heb, is het zeer discutabel of ik daadwerkelijk over de limiet ging’. Gasly vervolgt: “Soortgelijke situaties overkwamen Yuki en Perez en op basis van de onboard-camera’s waren ze duidelijk óp de baan.” Gasly en Perez delen de mening dat de raceleiding moet gaan zoeken naar een nieuwe, preciezere aanpak om de baanlimieten in de gaten te houden. “Het systeem werkt niet echt. We moeten gaan kijken hoe we dit kunnen verbeteren zodat we consistenter zijn”, zegt Perez. Gasly vindt dat er zo snel mogelijk een beter systeem moet komen: “We moeten in eerste instantie de juiste methoden hebben, want anders kun je het net zo goed niet doen.”

De raceleiding van de Formule 1 lijkt in ieder geval druk bezig te zijn met een verbetering van het huidige systeem en dat ze open lijken te staan voor feedback van de F1-coureurs. Gasly vertelt verder: “We hadden gesproken over oplossingen. Ze leken open te staan voor feedback. Ik zal met alle rijders in gesprek gaan om te kijken of we voor een oplossing kunnen zorgen.”

Ik leerde op de kleuterschool al binnen de lijntjes kleuren maar blijkbaar heeft niet iedereen die les meegekregen.

Zet overal een betonnen muur omheen dan ben je van dit gezeik af.
Is natuurlijk niet realistisch,maar het is net als de VAR bij het voetbal,verschillende interpretaties kunnen net het verschil maken tussen wél of niet.

  Ik zeg doe het als Indycar en laat het gewoon lekker helemaal los. Ga maar mooi 100 meter buiten de baan als er asfalt ligt en je denkt dat het sneller is. 🤡

Zorg voor een natuurlijke oplossing. Dus bijvoorbeeld op een auto breedte naast de baan nat gras, of een oliebol. Iets wat nul grip geeft. Wordt de rijder meteen gestraft als hij de wind gaat.

Gewoon vrij laten niet meer naar kijken naar baanlimiet, dan heeft iedereen er voordeel of nadeel van, dan is dan ook weer opgelost.

Er zijn nu al op veel banen al sensoren, stel dat verplicht voor elk circuit in elke bocht waar er tracklimits zijn, is een investering voor de circuits, maar met hulp van FIA moet dat toch te realiseren zijn lijkt me.
Dan ben je pas van alle discutabele tracklimits af, dit lijkt mij de enige fatsoenlijke oplossing.

  F1 auto's zijn toch 2 meter breed? Gewoon een strook van asfalt van twee meter breed buiten de bocht en dan een strook van 1 meter breed gras, vervolgens weer asfalt of grind of wat dan ook voor de veiligheid maar kom je op het gras (dus meer als twee meter buiten de baan) zal je ook tijd gaan verliezen en heb je de poespas met sensoren niet nodig. Gewoon zorgen dat de coureurs even in de problemen komen op een smalle strook gras.
