Stroll gaat teamgenoot Vettel missen: "Hij is enorm professioneel"

Viervoudig wereldkampioen Sebastian Vettel kwam enkele weken geleden met groot nieuws. De Aston Martin-coureur maakte namelijk bekend dat hij na dit seizoen met pensioen gaat. Vettel kreeg vervolgens zeer veel lof en eervolle woorden van zijn collega's, kenners en andere prominente Formule 1-figuren.

Vettel rijdt sinds vorig seizoen voor het team van Aston Martin. De Britse renstal is eigendom van de Canadese zakenman Lawrence Stroll en het team heeft torenhoge ambities. Vettel kon de hoge verwachtingen niet waarmaken in zijn jaren bij Aston Martin, tot nu toe heeft hij slechts één podiumplaats binnengesleept in dienst van het team. Tijdens zijn laatste jaren in de sport liet hij wel meer en meer zijn maatschappelijke kant zien.

Teamplayer

Vettel zal door velen gemist worden. Ook zijn huidige teamgenoot Lance Stroll is zeer lovend en gaat Vettel in het aankomende seizoen missen. Stroll wordt geciteerd door Motorsportweek en laten weten wat hij het meest gaat missen aan Vettel: "In ieder geval niet de lange debriefs! Hij is daar heel erg goed in. Maar zonder dollen, hij is een fantastische teamplayer en hij is iemand waar je heel goed mee kan samenwerken. Het was gewoon heel erg leuk."

Professioneel

Stroll heeft twee seizoenen lang veel kunnen leren van de ervaring van Vettel. De Canadese coureur denkt dan ook dat Vettel veel kennis tot zijn beschikking heeft: "Hij is een groot talent. Hij is enorm professioneel en zijn technische kunde is ook heel erg goed. Dat is ook heel goed voor de auto. Hij is een fantastisch onderdeel van het team en ik geniet ervan dat ik naast hem mag werken. Het was zeker heel erg leuk."

Hij gaat vooral de setups missen die hij van Seb kreeg. Bij Alonso moet je nog maar afwachten of hij er niet stiekem een easter egg in verstopt

  Klopt! In een opgenomen spelletje "True or false" met Stoffel Vandoorne heeft Alonso al eens toegegeven per ongeluk ontdekt te hebben dat je op een bepaalde kerb snelheid kon winnen en vervolgens in de debrief aangegeven heeft aan zijn teamgenoot deze kerb juist te vermijden...
