Verstappen snapt druk: "De mensen verwachten natuurlijk meer van mij"

Max Verstappen is dit weekend in Zandvoort de meest besproken man van het Formule 1-veld. De Red Bull Racing-coureur rijdt immers zijn thuisrace en is de man in vorm. Hij gaat met een ruime voorsprong aan de leiding in het wereldkampioenschap en reed vorige week in België een indrukwekkende race.

Dit weekend zal Verstappen schitteren voor eigen publiek. Vorig jaar keerde de Grand Prix op Zandvoort terug op de kalender en het werd één groot oranjefeestje. Verstappen was de rustige hoofdrolspeler in de festivalsferen van het raceweekend. Hij schreef de race op zijn naam en werd later in het seizoen wereldkampioen. De verwachtingen zijn dit weekend dan ook zeer hoog.

Moeten

Verstappen zelf probeert het hoofd koel te houden. Door zijn zege van vorig seizoen heeft de Nederlander nu ook meer rust. In gesprek met de Nederlandse krant De Telegraaf spreekt hij zich uit: "Die overwinning was prachtig en het neemt ook wat druk weg van het 'moeten winnen'. Dat is nu dus al gebeurd. De mensen verwachten natuurlijk meer van mij. Ik kan echter niets meer doen dan normaal. Ik benader elke Grand Prix hetzelfde."

Verwachtingen

De verwachtingen zijn hoog en Verstappen is zich daarvan bewust. De Nederlander vindt het niet meer dan normaal en is zeer eerlijk: "Als ik een minder auto heb komt het publiek met lagere verwachtingen naar het circuit. Wij zelf zouden dan ook doen. Nu hebben we wederom een auto die meedoet om de overwinningen. Er wordt dus ook verwacht dat ik win. Voor mij maakt het niet zoveel uit. Of ik nu een goede auto heb of niet, ik doet altijd mijn best."

Hij gaat hem gewoon winnen, en niet op een kleine dominante wijze ook. kom maar op, hij gaat daar zo hard dat Ferrari de focus per direct op 2023 zet.

  Jos Verstappen zit met Covid-19 thuis op de bank.
  Daarom was hij ook niet bij het ridderen aanwezig.
  Hij hoopt dit weekend weer aanwezig te kunnen zijn in Zandvoort.

  nee duh, hij wil natuurlijk nog voor Aston Martin gaan rijden, niet heel toevallig een engelse team met een mercedes motor erin. een beetje politieke spelletje spelen is wel nodig ja.
