Ocon eert Michael Schumacher met speciaal helmontwerp

Meerdere coureurs rijden dit weekend in Monza met een aangepast helmdesign. Ferrari-coureurs Carlos Sainz en Charles Leclerc rijden bijvoorbeeld met een geel helmontwerp vanwege het 75-jarige jubileum van hun werkgever. Ook Esteban Ocon rijdt dit weekend rond met een helm waar de Italianen wel bekend mee zullen zijn.

De Franse Alpine-coureur eert dit weekend namelijk Ferrari-legende Michael Schumacher. Ocon rijdt dit weekend met een helm gebaseerd op de rode helm waarmee Schumacher zijn Ferrari-titels won. De helm van Ocon is geheel rood en heeft ook enkele persoonlijke kenmerken. De helm is namelijk voorzien van de Eiffeltoren en de handtekening van de Fransman. In zijn kartjaren reed Ocon ook al met een Schumacher-helm.

      Jean Graton.... Ik weet niet zo heel veel van de man. Maar ik heb wel zijn stripboeken verslonden. Ik wilde dat ik ze nog had.
      In die tijd werd er op de TV amper over strategie en banden, e.d. gesproken. Als jong gastje heb ik enorm veel opgestoken over strategie. Want dat zat verwerkt in een aantal van zijn comics.
      Weet jij dat Sergeant? Kwam hij uit de race wereld?

      Geloof dat Graton zelf niet geracet heeft @Snailer, wel bezocht hij vaak de circuits en had hij een goede band met diverse (F1-)coureurs.
      Later kwam er ook nog een fysiek raceteam genaamd Michael Vaillant.

      Wat coureurs betreft wel, er waren zelfs meerdere vrouwelijke coureurs, maar in scenes buiten het circuit om was ie net zo conservatief als de meesten in die tijd...
      In de nieuwste reeks, gemaakt door zijn opvolgers en die k niet compleet heb, komt dacht ik Max Verstappen ook voor...

      Nee dat was in die tijd veel te spannend voor mij.
      Ik las meer de comics van sex in smurfenland.
      Daar werd Smurfin helemaal uit elkaar getrokken.

      @snailer: Graton's vader was voorzitter van een motorrijdersclub in Nantes en organiseerde ook toertochten. Net als Jean zelf was hij helemaal gek van auto's, autosport en motorsport en nam hem ook mee naar Le Mans. Gratons eerste klus als tekenaar voor het blad Robbedoes had (nog) helemaal niets met auto's: Les Belles Histoires de l'Oncle Paul (de verhalen van Oom Wim) gingen over een knorrige Bretonse opa die zijn neefjes met verhalen uit WO 2 vermaakte. Maar hij liep over naar de concurrent Kuifje waar hij eerst losse verhalen maakte en daarna de reeks over de familie Vaillant bedacht. het was inderdaad hyperrealistisch en Graton deed altijd flink onderzoek, kwam ook vaak in de racewereld.

      Een oom van me werkte vroeger bij een drukkerij waar o.a. dat soort comics vandaan kwamen. Alle afgekeurde edities met productiefouten werden altijd "op geheimzinnige wijze" over onze familie verdeeld hihi. Ik was verzot op die Vaillant strips en ik heb er nog aardig wat van. En inderdaad, Graton liet ook de dames meeracen. Julie Wood is al genoemd en eigenlijk nog iets eerder kwam Gabrielle Spangenberg, die in de Ridders van Königsfeld werd opgevoerd

      Dat fysieke raceteam Vaillant is twee keer gebruikt: Een keer in Le Mans toen er een live action film werd opgenomen (er reed toen ook een Leader auto mee) en in de WTCC toen Philipe Graton de reeks opnieuw rebootte en Alain Menu als Michel Vaillant aan de start kwam. Ik weet even niet meer of er later ook een Vaillant LMP2 mee heeft gedaan aan een aantal Le Mans edities

    mooi eerbetoon, echter 1 van Schumi's lelijkste helmen gekozen naar mijn mening.
