Russell verwacht simpele zege voor Verstappen

George Russell heeft een goede uitgangspositie voor de Italiaanse Grand Prix in handen. De Britse Mercedes-coureur reed de zesde tijd in de kwalificatie maar aangezien Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, Sergio Perez en Lewis Hamilton een motorstraf ontvangen mag hij vanaf de tweede plaats starten. Russell rekent zich echter niet rijk.

Russells achterstand op de pole van Charles Leclerc was vrij fors. De Britse Mercedes-coureur was bijna 1,4 seconden langzamer dan Leclerc en dat stemde hem niet heel hoopvol. Hij had meer verwacht na zijn runs in de eerste kwalificatiesessie en zijn achterstand was dan ook een teleurstelling. Russell zal morgen geen overbodige duels gaan uitvechten.

Jammer

Russell weet waar hij staat en hij verwacht dan ook gewoon weer een zege van Verstappen. De Nederlander moet iets verder naar achteren starten. Na afloop van de kwalificatie sprak Russell zich uit bij Sky Sports: "Het is jammer dat we zo ver van de pace afzaten. Ik denk dat we ons op onszelf moeten focussen want we hebben vorige week en in Boedapest gezien dat we ons eigen resultaat naar beneden halen als we vechten met snellere auto's."

Verstappen

Russell weet al dat hij de degens niet gaat kruisen met Verstappen. De Brit doet een voorspelling en verwacht morgen het Wilhelmus te horen: "Ik denk dat we kunnen vechten met Charles. We kunnen zeker niet vechten met Max, ze zijn veel sneller dan wij. We gaan proberen om voor Checo te blijven, Carlos zal door het veld heen gaan komen en hij zal gaan proberen om te vechten. Verstappen zal de leiding na 15 rondjes in handen hebben. Het is hier niet zo makkelijk om in te halen zoals in Spa. Maar met hun pace snijden ze zo door het veld."

Het wordt toch ook een eenvoudige zege voor Max?
Zou niet weten wie hem hoe moet bedreigen.
Enige auto die met hem gaat vechten is Leclerc. De rest gaat echt geen gevecht met hem aan omdat dat zinloos is omdat de RB zoveel sneller is. Dat is het racen van nu, laat maar voorbij, anders kost het mi... [Lees verder]

  Ik denk dat het tegen gaat vallen. Als Leclerc goed weg komt en Max heeft iets wat vertraging door de drukte kan het toch heel anders uitpakken. Die baan is zo best snel en Leclerc kan een misschien wel niet dicht te rijden voorsprong op bouwen. Ik zou er niet zomaar vanuit gaan dat Max dit makkelijk gaat winnen.. Het blijft F1, bijna niemand durfde te denken dat hij Spa ff zou winnen. Nu denkt men het allemaal wel, zal je zien, gaat het toch anders uitpakken.. who knows 😉

Zie ook niet in hoe Verstappen dit niet wint. De RB is een raket van een wagen en Verstappen draait een mega seizoen. Eentonig wel maar zie de Ferrari nou niet echt winnen (hoop van wel).

Het irriteert me een beetje dat steeds wordt geroepen (door andere rijders, door Sky commentatoren) dat "ze" / de Red Bull zoveel sneller is dan de rest, terwijl Checo geregeld en ook nu weer het onderspit delft tegen Ferrari en morgen Mercedes denkt met Checo te kunnen strijden. Dus ja, de Red Bull is een goede auto, maar het is door Max dat er ook gewonnen wordt met die auto. Ik denk dat Max ook met de Ferrari dit jaar meer gewonnen zou hebben dan Charles en Carlos dat gedaan hebben.

  Maar er is ook duidelijk gezegd dat de RB volledig gemaakt is voor Max zijn rijstijl. Perez heeft liever dat de voorkant glijdt terwijl de wagen dat juist niet doet omdat Max een losse achterkant wilt.
  Ik denk dus persoonlijk dat de budgetcap hiervoor gezorgd heeft, ze kunnen niet 2 verschillende wagens bouwen dus hebben ze gekozen voor Max (ook wel een beetje logisch).
  
  Nu weet ik niet wat de filosofie van de Ferrari is.
