Perez baalde van remproblemen: "Ik verloor daardoor zeer veel tijd"

Sergio Perez startte de Italiaanse Grand Prix vanuit het achterveld vanwege een motorstraf. De Mexicaan vocht zich aardig naar voren en leek mee te kunnen doen voor de podiumplaatsen. Perez kwam echter in de problemen na zijn eerste pitstop, zijn remmen werden zeer heet en hij kreeg het zwaar.

Perez reed na zijn pitstop de pitlane uit met rokende remmen. Op de onboardbeelden waren de vlammen duidelijk te zien maar Perez kon doorrijden. Een podiumplek werd onmogelijk en de Mexicaan viel ver terug. Hij kon zijn race nog wel vervolgen en na een lange strijd kwam de Red Bull Racing-coureur als zesde over de streep.

In rook opgaan

Na afloop van de race op het circuit van Monza baalde Perez als een stekker. De Mexicaan hoopte op een goed resultaat maar zag die droom letterlijk en figuurlijk in rook opgaan. Tegenover de internationale media was hij duidelijk: "Het was erg frustrerend. Mijn kansen waren al vroeg verpest doordat de rechtervoorkant als het ware in de brand stond. We moesten anticiperen en dat betekende dat mijn hele race was verprutst."

Managen

Perez moest heel erg goed op zijn remmen letten en dat zorgde voor de nodige kopzorgen. De Mexicaanse Red Bull Racing-coureur was daar na afloop dan ook zeer eerlijk over: "Toen ik op de harde banden reed moest ik de remtemperatuur goed blijven managen. Dat was erg belangrijk. Ik moest in het begin heel veel van het gas af. Ik verloor daardoor zeer veel tijd. Dus eigenlijk liep alles in de soep door die eerste stint."

Dat Perez nog 6e is geworden is al een prestatie op zich.
Nadat ik zag dat die rem in de fik stond en zelfs na een stuk gereden te hebben nog steeds brande,dacht ik dit is einde oefening.
Uiteindelijk wist Perez de bull toch te redden en ook nog de 6e plaats te pakken.

Dat Perez nog 6e is geworden is al een prestatie op zich.
Nadat ik zag dat die rem in de fik stond en zelfs na een stuk gereden te hebben nog steeds brande,dacht ik dit is einde oefening.
Uiteindelijk wist Perez de bull toch te redden en ook nog de 6e plaats te pakken.

Prima prestatie met deze problemen.
Anderzijds vond ik hem in het begin van de race niet bijster sterk ivm Sainz die veel sneller naar voren kwam.
Ook Ham vond ik er lang over doen om plaatsen te winnen.
Je zag bij Ham wel dat op een gegeven momentt het wel sneller ging om plaatsen te winnen.

Ik vermked dat Perez zonder problemen misschien 1 plaatsje opgeschoven zou zijn. Ik verwacht niet dat hij Sainz nog had kunnen pakken

Horner vertelde dat hij een flatspot op zijn banden had geremd, waardoor hij al vroeg naar binnen moest vanwege trillingen die de auto kapot zouden maken. Dat is Perez zelf aan te rekenen dat hij een flatspot remt. Hierna hersteld hij wel goed.

Daarom is het misschien handiger om eerst het verhaal van de coureurs te horen, voor men ze gaat afzagen.
Het was duidelijk te zien dat hij een remprobleem had.
