Häkkinen en Vettel aangekondigd voor Race of Champions 2023

De prestigieuze Race Of Champions werd dit jaar voor het eerst gehouden onder ijskoude omstandigheden. De editie in het Zweedse Pite Havsbad beviel zo goed dat er een vervolg komt in 2023. Aankomend jaar wordt er wederom gereden op de bevroren ondergrond in het uiterste noorden van Europa. De eerste coureurs zijn al vastgelegd.

Gisteren kwam de organisatie van de Race Of Champions met een aankondiging voor de editie van aankomend jaar. Er wordt wederom gereden in Pite Havsbad en de eerste paar coureurs zijn bekend gemaakt. Onder andere Mika Häkkinen en Sebastian Vettel reizen af naar Zweden. Het wordt voor Vettel zijn eerste optreden na zijn Formule 1-pensioen. Ook Jamie Chadwick, Petter Solberg, Oliver Solberg en Johan Kristoffersson zijn aangekondigd.

De Duitse viervoudig wereldkampioen hangt zijn helm na dit seizoen aan de wilgen. Vettel liet weten uit te kijken naar zijn deelname. In het persbericht was hij duidelijk: "Ik kan geen betere plaats bedenken voor mijn eerste race na mijn pensioen. Het wordt mijn elfde deelname en ik blijven terugkomen omdat het speciaal en leuk is. Ik heb niet zoveel ervaring met racen op sneeuw en ijs dus ik had een grote leercurve dit jaar. Het bereiken van de finale tegen Sébastien Loeb was een leuke verrassing."

      Blijkbaar ja. Tja zo zie je dus maar hoe succes mensen naar hun hoofd kan stijgen. Anderen de maat nemen maar wel lekker door blijven gaan met de (vervuilende) autosport (inclusief vliegen). Lachwekkend
