Op deze manieren wordt Verstappen wereldkampioen in Singapore

De kans is zeer groot dat Max Verstappen binnenkort officieel zijn tweede wereldtitel gaat pakken. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur gaat met een reusachtige voorsprong aan de leiding in het wereldkampioenschap en heeft het momentum stevig in handen. Aankomend weekend in Singapore krijgt Verstappen zijn eerste kans op titelprolongatie.

In theorie kunnen er nog twee coureurs Verstappen van een wereldtitel afhouden. Ferrari-coureur Charles Leclerc en Verstappens teamgenoot Sergio Perez kunnen de Nederlander in principe nog verslaan. Leclerc staat momenteel tweede in het wereldkampioenschap met 219 WK-punten, Perez volgt op de derde plaats met 210 punten. Verstappen gaat op zijn beurt aan de leiding met 335 punten.

Met snelste ronde

Verstappen kan de wereldtitel in Singapore alleen binnenslepen bij een overwinning, als de Nederlander tweede wordt gaat de titelstrijd in Japan verder. Als Verstappen in Singapore wint én de snelste ronde rijdt, dan is de titel een feit als Leclerc achtste of lager finisht en Perez vierde of lager wordt. Het is de makkelijkste route naar een titelfeestje van Verstappen in Singapore.

Zonder snelste ronde

Verstappen kan ook wereldkampioen worden met een zege zonder snelste ronde, deze route is echter aanzienlijk lastiger. Leclerc mag dan namelijk slechts negende worden. Perez moet in dit scenario als vierde of lager finishen, maar mag dan niet de snelste ronde rijden. Beide mogelijkheden zijn nogal lastig en aangezien Verstappen hier geen directe invloed op heeft, het is dan ook logischer dat hij wereldkampioen wordt in Japan.

Ik denk dat het kampioenschap na Singapore klaar is, er is 80% kans op regen. Dus Ferrari zet slicks bij de pitstop....

  Ik denk dat het wel een mooie strategie kan zijn als ze voor en achter verschillende compounds mogen (niet moeten) gebruiken. Maar wel 2 verschillende bv starten op softs en bij de pitstop voor medium en achter hard.

Persoonlijk hecht ik hier nooit echt waarde aan. Het belangrijkste is dat die titel er komt, en die komt er natuurlijk lachend dit jaar. Maar waar dat dan gaat gebeuren in mijn ogen niet heel relevant. Gewoon lekker die race proberen te winnen en dan zie je wel wie waar zal finishen.

Als eerste hoop ik dat Verstappen wint. Hij is met een mooie unieke reeks bezig.
De kans op titel prolongatie in Singapore is maar een klein kansje. Dan moeten Leclerc en Perez uitvallen. Beide is wel heel veel.
In theorie kunnen meerdere coureurs nog wereld kampioen worden. Zelfs Hamilton nog, als elke race (incl SprintRace) Ver, Per, Lec, Sai en Rus uitvallen en Ham alles wint. Dat is ook theorie. Maar geloof je het dat het gebeurd?
