Perez kijkt naar Mercedes: "Denk dat ze erg sterk zijn of juist zwak"

Het team van Red Bull Racing is bezig met een uitmuntend seizoen. Dit weekend in Singapore zijn ze dan ook wederom de grote favorieten voor de zege. De Oostenrijkse renstal blijft wel in de achteruitkijkspiegel kijken. Sergio Perez wil dan ook niet op de zaakjes vooruit lopen en hij kijkt naar de concurrentie.

Red Bull is bezig met een zeer sterk seizoen en moest dit seizoen alleen een enkele keer de zege laten aan Ferrari. De Italiaanse renstal was regelmatig even snel als Red Bull maar mislukte strategieën en betrouwbaarheidsproblemen zorgden voor een grote achterstand. Inmiddels gaat het weer wat beter met Ferrari en ziet men hen weer als een grote concurrent.

Ferrari

Red Bull-coureur Sergio Perez houdt tevens zeer veel rekening met Ferrari in de straten van Singapore. De Mexicaan denkt dat het een grote strijd gaat worden. In Singapore sprak hij zich erover uit in gesprek met de internationale media: "In Monza waren ze al dichtbij en ik verwacht dat Ferrari hier in Singapore weer heel erg sterk zal zijn. Ze waren al erg sterk op de stratencircuits dus ik verwacht dat ze hier weer snel zullen zijn."

Mercedes

Maar Perez staart zich niet blind op Ferrari. De ervaren Mexicaan denkt namelijk ook dat Red Bull moet letten op Mercedes. Mercedes is bezig met een lastig seizoen maar verwacht veel van de nachtrace in Singapore. De Duitse renstal kan volgens Perez gevaarlijk worden: "Ze deden zeker mee in de laatste races. Bij Mercedes denk ik dat ze heel erg sterk zijn of juist zwak. Als ze sterk zijn, dan kunnen ze met ons en Ferrari meestrijden. "

Hamilton deed het goed. Echter was zo te zien de motor wel verder open dan bij Red Bull. Verstappen schakelde ook veel later op en ook niet altijd terug naar een lagere versnelling.

Overigens kon die tijd van Hamilton beter. Hij deed in de derde drs zone zijn drs veel later open.

Het was niet zo'n representatieve VT1. Maar uiteindelijk zegt VT1 nooit zo veel.

Als je vergelijkt met Verstappen valt het wel mee. Maar als je het vergelijkt met jou dan zijn ze sterk ja. Ik denk dat ze best kans maken. Hamilton gaat altijd wel goed op deze baan. En het weer gaat ook raar doen.

  Ze maken alleen kans als er 3/4 uitvallen vooraan. helemaal kansloos zijn ze niet, maar ga nu niet denken dat je gelijk mee doet na 1 training. die fout heb ik ook vaak gemaakt van 2016-2020. normaal zijn ze nergens, ze hebben heel veel geluk nodig.

  Zeker met je eens Roy. Echter is deze baan wel een aparte. En een safety car hier is zeker niet onrealistisch. Maarja je moet geluk hebben anders win je sowieso niet.
