Horner enorm trots op Perez: "Zonder twijfel zijn beste race"

Het team van Red Bull Racing kende een wisselvallige race in Singapore. Max Verstappen moest vanuit het middenveld starten en kende een lastige wedstrijd. Sergio Perez pakte echter bij de start de leiding en gaf die niet meer uit handen. Hij moet zich nog wel bij de stewards melden waardoor zijn zege in gevaar komt.

Perez reed een enorm sterke race en was vrijwel ontastbaar in de straten van Singapore. De Mexicaan liet zich achter de Safety Car echter gaan waardoor hij mogelijk een straf gaat krijgen. Bij Red Bull moet men daar niets van weten en is men vooral zeer trots op de race van de Mexicaanse routinier.

Lastige omstandigheden

Na afloop van de race verscheen de trots Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner voor de camera's van Sky Sports en daar besprak hij de race: "Dit is zonder twijfel de beste race uit zijn loopbaan. Het waren enorm lastige omstandigheden. Hij kende een topstart en nestelde zich daarna voor een goede race. Hij had de inters ook goed onder controle. De restarts had hij goed onder controle."

Wereldklasse

Perez hield ook de jagende Charles Leclerc knap achter zich. De Mexicaan sloeg daarna nog een gat met de mogelijke tijdstraf in het achterhoofd. Met zijn rondjes op de droogweerbanden maakte Perez nog meer indruk op Horner: "Na de wissels naar de softs kon hij Leclerc niet afschudden. Ze probeerden echt alles. Een foutje van Leclerc gaf hem die seconde en hij kon toen gaan. Ik ben enorm trots op hem vandaag. Het was van wereldklasse. Dit is zeker zijn beste zege en hiermee gaat hij Monaco voorbij."

Die zege in de Racing Point was hij echt on fire. Maar deze is knap omdat ie continu druk had door Leclerc of straf.

Maar ook vaak podia gehaald in mindere wagens.

Hij was goed vandaag. mag ook gezegd worden, foutloos. verdiende overwinning. misschien wel zijn beste race uit zijn loppbaan?

  Yup en volgendeweek in dienst rijden van verstappen.
  
  Motor wat verder open en 2e worden.
  Ook goed voor zijn 2e plek.
  
  Met andere woorden.. hij heeft volgendeweek maar 1 taak en dat is voor leclerc ijven en hem afstoppen

  Nou denk het wel RBR wil graag in Japan he WDC binnen halen.
  
  Dan moet max winnen + snelle ronden en Charles 3e worden.
  
  Dus daar zal checkgewoon teamorders krijgen...

  Als ik het goed heb uitgerekend dan is winnen en snelste ronde voldoende. Dan mag Leclerc kampioen worden.
  Na Japan moet Verstappen de volgende voorsprong hebben:
  4 x 26 +8 = 112 punten.
  Dat zijn de punten die door 1 rijder maximaal te halen zijn in de resterende races na Japan.
  Verstappen heeft nu 341 punten. Als hij wint en de snelste ronde heeft, dan komt zijn totaal op 367.
  Leclerc heeft nu 237 punten. Met een tweede plek in Japan is dat 255 punten.
  
  367 - 255 = 112.
  
  Verstappen is 100% kampioen want hoe dan ook meer overwinningen dan Leclerc, wat bij een gelijke stand geldt.
