Giovinazzi denkt niet dat crash invloed heeft op F1-toekomst

Antonio Giovinazzi mocht gisteren de eerste vrije training in Austin voor zijn rekening nemen voor het team van Haas. De Italiaan sloeg echter een modderfiguur en parkeerde zijn wagen al na amper vier rondjes in de muur. Hij denkt niet dat deze blunder zijn kansen voor 2023 verkleind.

Giovinazzi reed tot en met vorig seizoen voor het team van Alfa Romeo. De Italiaan moest echter gedwongen vertrekken en fungeerde dit seizoen als reservecoureur bij Ferrari, tevens reed hij in de Formule E. In Monza en gisteren in Austin mocht hij een training rijden voor Haas. Hij liet alles behalve een verpletterende indruk achter.

Tijdens de eerste vrije training in Austin stond Giovinazzi binnen de kortste keren in de muur. Het lijkt erop dat zijn kansen op een comeback hierdoor zijn gekrompen. Tegenover Motorsport.com blijft hij echter positief: "Dit helpt vanzelfsprekend niet. Maar aan de andere kant, ik heb al laten zien wat ik kan in de Formule 1. De ene ronde ronde zullen mijn loopbaan niet beëindigen. We zullen zien wat er gaat gebeuren. Ik heb al drie seizoenen in de sport gereden. Dus als iemand mij wil, dan hangt dat niet af van deze sessie. Het gaat om wat ik in het verleden heb gedaan."
