Voormalig F1-coureur Sirotkin kondigt pensioen aan

Voormalig Formule 1-coureur Sergey Sirotkin heeft besloten om zijn helm aan de wilgen te gaan hangen. De Russische coureur kwam al jaren niet meer in actie in noemenswaardige kampioenschappen maar hij heeft nu besloten om zijn loopbaan officieel te beëindigen. Sirotkin reed in 2018 voor Williams.

De Rus debuteerde in 2018 in de Formule 1 voor het team van Williams. Sirotkin reed alleen dat seizoen in de Formule 1 en fungeerde daarna als reservecoureur voor onder andere Renault en McLaren. Daarnaast reed hij de 24 uur van Le Mans voor het team van SMP Racing. Tevens kwam hij in actie in een Ferrari in de GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.

Sirotkin kon dit jaar niet in actie komen in een wereldkampioenschap van de FIA vanwege de sancties tegen Russische coureurs. Coureurs uit Rusland en Belarus moeten een document ondertekenen waarin ze afstand doen van de Russische invasie in Oekraïne. Onder andere Nikita Mazepin ondertekende het document niet waardoor hij dit jaar niet in actie kan komen in de Formule 1. Het team van Haas verscheurde zijn contract.

Vond hem wel een enorm sympathieke, serieuze en hard werkende coureur.
Was dag en nacht in de fabriek te vinden tijdens zijn F1 tijd.
Was technisch ook zeer goed onderlegd. Jammer dit.

  Zeker geen slechte coureur, vond hem met momenten sterk in zijn tijd bij SMP. Hij heeft toch zijn droom (hetzij deels) kunnen waarmaken en een gek figuur sloeg hij zeer zeker niet in de F1.
  
  Helaas zal het ook, door de zeer jammerlijke situatie, een geforceerd pensioen zijn.

  Dick de Cock@ hij is dan niet meer coureur... maar denk niet dat hij de motorsport verlaat.
  
  Hij kan vermoedelijk een stuk beter verdienen als engineer. Als die zn werk een beetje goed doet zien we hem misschien in een paar jaar nog terug in F1.

huh? Ik dacht dat Sirotkin ieder moment zijn comeback kon maken in F1, Sergey wat doe je jongen! je hebt de F1 nog zoveel moois te bieden. waarom? waarom nou jij?

De Roebel is een stuk minder waard, als Rus kom je bijna nergens meer aan de bak en ieder bedrijf probeert bewust te zijn over hoe ‘schoon’ het geld is of de goederen zijn die ze aannemen. Helemaal de F1 teams. Sergey heeft dus helemaal geen kans meer om aan de bak te komen. Hopelijk heeft hij (of zijn pa) nog goede contacten met de Russische top anders zien we Sergey binnenkort als tankbestuurder in actie aan het front

  De roebel is ongeveer net zoveel waard als 5 jaar geleden en stond deze maand nog op het hoogste niveau in 7 jaar tijd ten opzichte van de euro en de dollar.

Wie? Sirotkin! Hoogvlieger? Nee, zeker niet! Maar wat mij bij gebleven is, is dat hij zelfs ietsjes sneller was dan teamgenoot Stroll. Oké, Stroll pakte in één race punten (kwam een beetje geluk bij kijken) en Sirotkin lukte dat niet... maar om maar even aan te geven hoe belachelijk langzaam Stroll eigenlijk is dat hij niet eens debutant Sirotkin echt op snelheid kon verslaan. En dan zijn er nog steeds mensen die Stroll "redelijk goed" vinden. Ja, Stroll is van de huidige deelnemers beter dan Latifi. En daar houdt het ook wel op.
