Tsunoda 'in schok' na crash met Ricciardo: "Heel erg jammer"

Daniel Ricciardo werd afgelopen weekend in Mexico zwaar bestraft na een incident met Yuki Tsunoda. De Australiër raakte de AlphaTauri van Tsunoda waarna de Japanner moest opgeven. Ricciardo ontving een tijdstraf van tien seconden en Tsunoda bleef geschokt achter na het opvallende incident.

Ricciardo kreeg na de crash vleugels en reed een indrukwekkende race. De Australische McLaren-coureur kwam uiteindelijk als zevende over de streep, zijn tijdstraf kon daar niets meer aan veranderen. Het publiek kon de inhaalacties van Ricciardo wel waarderen en verkoos hen tot Driver of the Day. Het incident met Tsunoda was door velen al snel vergeten en de Japanner baalde als een stekker.

Tsunoda moest na het incident opgeven. De schade aan de AlphaTauri was te groot en eenmaal aangekomen in de pitlane concludeerde AlphaTauri dat de race vervolgen vrijwel zinloos was. Tsunoda zelf zag de desbetreffende actie van Ricciardo niet aankomen en reageerde nogal fel bij de internationale media: "Het is heel erg jammer, tot aan dat moment ging mijn race eigenlijk best wel goed. Ik kon alles in mijn eerste stint eigenlijk best wel goed managen. Toen, ja... ik was in schok vanwege zijn inhaalpoging."

Hij is wel een stukkie rustiger geworden onze Yuki, ik had echt verwacht dat hij de hele bull bij elkaar zou gaan vloeken.

  Nou, daar had hij ook alle reden toe na die stomme idiote actie van Ricciardo, die nog geen schim meer is van wat hij ooit was.
  Zijn tanden bloot lachen is het enige waar hij goed in is en daarmee probeert hij de mensen in te palmen.
  En nee, ik ben geen liefhebber van hem. Niet van hem als coureur en al helemaal niet van zijn persoonlijkheid.

Hij liet de deur ook wel open.
Een racecoureur gaat voor elk gat maar als coureur moet je een gat afdekken, iets met spatial awareness

Toch blijf ik mij verbazen hoe je vrij makkelijk een auto uit de race kan kegelen en zelf met maar 5 of 10 seconden straf weg kan komen en alsnog nette resultaten kan behalen
