Glock ziet contractvelenging Hamilton wel zitten: "Hij ziet er gemotiveerd uit"

Lewis Hamilton heeft nog een contract tot en met 2023 bij het team van Mercedes. De Britse zevenvoudig wereldkampioen heeft al laten doorschemeren dat hij graag langer door wil gaan. Timo Glock denkt dat dit een goede zaak is omdat hij nog veel motivatie ziet bij Hamilton.

Hamilton is momenteel bezig met een redelijk teleurstellend seizoen. Mercedes heeft een auto gebouwd met de nodige kinderziektes en in de beginfase van dit seizoen was dit goed merkbaar. Inmiddels heeft men de meeste problemen opgelost en kan de Duitse renstal meevechten in de top. Een zege lijkt vooralsnog te hoog gegrepen voor Hamilton en zijn teamgenoot George Russell.

Oud-coureur Timo Glock denkt dan ook dat het een goede zaak is dat Hamilton zijn contract wil verlengen. De Duitser is daar nogal duidelijk over in conversatie met Speedweek: "Hij ziet er momenteel enorm gemotiveerd uit, hij liet dat ook zien in Mexico. Het pakket van Mercedes werkte daar heel erg goed. Ze hebben de problemen van eerder dit jaar onder controle en ze zijn snel op verschillende circuits. Het laat een kracht van Mercedes zien, Hamilton en Russell kunnen zeker weten Ferrari inhalen in de tussenstand."
