Williams sluit Schumacher niet uit bij superlicentieproblemen Sargeant

Het team van Williams laat morgen tijdens de tweede vrij training in Brazilië Logan Sargeant in actie komen. De Amerikaan is de beoogde opvolger van Nicholas Latifi maar hij heeft nog niet genoeg superlicentiepunten. Teambaas Jost Capito zoekt dan ook naar een mogelijk plan B en kijkt bijvoorbeeld naar Mick Schumacher.

Sargeant is hard bezig met het verzamelen van superlicentiepunten. De Amerikaanse Formule 2-coureur reed in Mexico echter één rondje te weinig in de eerste vrije training waardoor hij een superlicentiepuntje misliep, hij mag dit puntje nu dus alsnog gaan ophalen in VT2 in Brazilië. Als hij volgende week zijn positie in het Formule 2-kampioenschap weet te behouden is er geen vuiltje meer aan de lucht.

Maar Williams-teambaas Jost Capito weet ook dat de missie van Sargeant nog kan mislukken. Haas-coureur Mick Schumacher komt dan op de radar. Bij Motorsport-magazin spreekt Capito zich uit: "Er is nog geen beslissing genomen of Mick bij Haas blijft of niet. Als Logan het niet voor elkaar krijgt met een superlicentie, dan komt echt iedereen met ervaring en genoeg superlicentiepunten op onze radar."
