Fittipaldi ziet Verstappen als de favoriet zodra het gaat regenen

Dit weekend staat de Braziliaanse Grand Prix op de planning en de kans is groot dat het gaat regenen op het circuit in Sao Paulo. Voor tweevoudig wereldkampioen Emerson Fittipaldi is het dan een no-brainer dat Max Verstappen boven komt drijven in de natte omstandigheden.

Vrijwel het gehele weekend is er kans op neerslag in Sao Paulo. In het verleden werden er enkele legendarische Grands Prix gereden in de regen op het circuit van Interlagos. Max Verstappen schitterde bijvoorbeeld in de kletsnatte Grand Prix in 2016, men verwacht dan ook dat er iets soortgelijks kan gaan gebeuren tijdens het aankomende raceweekend.

Regen

Ook tweevoudig wereldkampioen Emerson Fittipaldi wijst Max Verstappen aan als de topfavoriet in natte omstandigheden. De Braziliaanse racelegende spreekt zich uit bij VegasInsider: "Max is sowieso de favoriet. Hij is de snelste in de regen. Lewis gaat ook altijd bijzonder hard in natte omstandigheden. We hebben dan natuurlijk ook nog Lando Norris, hij kan goed overweg gaan met een natte baan. De regen is een voordeel voor die coureurs."

Mercedes

Fittipaldi denkt dat ook het team van Mercedes goed voor de dag kan komen. De Braziliaan ziet dat de Duitse renstal steeds beter en beter presteert. "Ja, ze maken een goede kans. Mercedes heeft zich goed verbeterd in de laatste tijd. Hamilton heeft solide resultaten geboekt. Daardoor maakt hij zeker ook een kas in Brazilië. Hij heeft tevens ook een goede kans bij de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi."
