Verstappen tevreden na eerste trainingen: "Eerlijk gezegd ging het best prima"

Max Verstappen kende een rustige vrijdag in Abu Dhabi. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur stond zijn wagen in de eerste vrije training af aan Liam Lawson, in de tweede vrije training was Verstappen de snelste. De Nederlander kijkt dan ook terug op een prima eerste dag in Abu Dhabi.

Verstappen mocht de eerste vrije training vanaf de zijlijn bekijken. Op zijn gemakje keek de Nederlander in de pitbox hoe rookie Lawson het zeker niet slecht deed. In de middagsessie mocht Verstappen zelf in actie komen en dat deed hij als vanouds. De Nederlander stapte in en eindigde de sessie met de snelste tijd. Het gat met nummer twee George Russell was niet klein maar zeker ook niet groot.

Prima

Na afloop was Verstappen dan ook tevreden over de laatste vrijdag van het 2022-seizoen. De Nederlandse wereldkampioen sprak zich uit bij Verstappen.com: "Het ging eerlijk gezegd prima. We zaten goed met de afstelling van de auto en Liam heeft goed werk geleverd door tijdens de eerste vrije training kilometers te maken. De auto voelde stabiel aan en dat is wat wij graag zien."

Temperaturen

Verstappen reed zelf dus slechts een uurtje. In dat uurtje merkte hij dat alles in orde was en dat stemt hem hoopvol voor de komende dagen: "Tijdens VT2 ging het probleemloos. We zaten er goed bij en we hebben wat zaken uitgeprobeerd. Tijdens de long run zag het er ook goed uit, daar zijn we blij mee. De temperatuur tijdens VT2 komt overeen met die van de kwalificatie. Daarom ging ik ook meteen op de softs naar buiten. Ik ben blij hoe de training ging. Natuurlijk zijn er altijd dingen die beter kunnen maar het ging goed."

Als Perez niet bij 'm aanhaakt valt er ook weinig te ondersteunen.
Mocht Leclerc hem verslaan, dan is 't voor Red Bull te hopen met 2 ptn of meer. Dwz, alles beter dan 9e en 10e. U weet wel waarom...

Droomscenario zou natuurlijk een soort spiegelbeeld van vorig jaar kunnen zijn, waarbij Verstappen zijn banden oprookt om Perez bij Leclerc te laten aansluiten

Rbr duidelijk de beste auto, zoals we gewend zijn. Op een enkele opleving na van mercedes, alhoewel, zonder beukpartij had Max in bra nog kunnen winnen.
Alleen pech of duels of de banden problematiek kan roet in het eten gooien bij rbr

  RBR heeft idd de beste wagen, maar die is mogelijk niet goed genoeg voor Checo.
  
  Ik hoop echt dat Leclerc die tweede plek pakt, al was het maar omdat hij zo lekker met Max heeft kunnen duelleren op de baan eerder in het seizoen. Hij heeft veel pech gehad, maar hij was verder best goed dit seizoen. Beter dan Perez iig. Zou het verdiend vinden.
