Tevreden Verstappen wil genieten van vakantie: "Zin om eventjes niets te doen"

Max Verstappen schreef de seizoensfinale in Abu Dhabi op redelijk eenvoudige wijze op zijn naam. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur behield de koppositie bij de start en schreef daarna zijn vijftiende zege van het seizoen op zijn naam. Verstappen wil nu vooral weer gaan genieten van zijn vakantie.

Verstappen kende een zeer succesvol seizoen in 2022. De Nederlander werd al in Japan wereldkampioen en schonk met zijn zege in Austin tevens zijn team de constructeurstitel. Verstappen schreef daarnaast meerdere records op zijn naam waaronder het record van de meeste zeges in één seizoen, dat record scherpte hij dus in Abu Dhabi aan.

Banden

Na afloop van de seizoensfinale in Abu Dhabi was Verstappen vooral heel erg tevreden met zijn resultaat. Na afloop meldde hij zich bij Viaplay: "Ik heb de hele wedstrijd een beetje banden gemanaged, zo konden we safe naar het einde rijden. Maar goed, zo wil je hem natuurlijk wel hebben. De bandenslijtage was gewoon goed genoeg voor een enkele stop. Het team zei aan het einde dat ik niet te snel moest gaan terwijl ik dat juiste wel wilde. Dat geeft natuurlijk wel aan dat het goed zit."

Vakantie

Nu het seizoen erop zit kan Verstappen eveneens gaan genieten van zijn vrije dagen. De Nederlandse wereldkampioen geeft aan dat hij stiekem best wel uitkijkt naar de vakantie: "Ik heb er wel zin in om eventjes niets te gaan doen. Dit was natuurlijk echt een topjaar. We gaan daar natuurlijk eventjes van genieten. Hopelijk zijn we aan het begin van het volgende jaar dan weer heel competitief."

Nu heb ik daar eigenlijk ook wel zin in, lekker even een paar weekjes onder een palmboom liggen met mijn eigen Kel.

Het was een mooi seizoen. Helaas niet het seizoen waarin de teams van Toffe Toto, de gekrulde teambaas van de scharlaken rode sportwagenfabrikant uit Maranello, Otmar en die andere zak de uiteindelijke winnaar echt konden uitdagen.

Maar wel een seizoen, waarin werd geprezen en geloofd, maar ook gesneerd en uitgehaald.
Een seizoen waarin naast de baan meer strijd was dan op de baan.
En dat willen we volgend seizoen weer omgekeerd zien.

Hopelijk krijgen we weer meer verschillende winnaars, en zitten er minimaal 3 topteams dicht bij elkaar. Ik ben benieuwd!
