Red Bull-adviseur Marko ziet Vettel terugkeren in nieuwe Formule 1-rol

Sebastian Vettel reed afgelopen weekend in Abu Dhabi zijn laatste Grand Prix uit zijn lange Formule 1-loopbaan. De Duitser kreeg een indrukwekkend afscheid van de fans en de andere coureurs. Helmut Marko denkt dat Vettel op een dag zal terugkeren in de sport in een andere rol.

Vettel hakte eerder dit jaar de knoop door over zijn toekomst. De Duitse viervoudig wereldkampioen kondigde zijn pensioen aan en sinds afgelopen zondag is hij dan ook geen Formule 1-coureur meer. Vettel kreeg van veel mensen complimenten en gelukwensen en direct werd er gespeculeerd over een mogelijke comeback in de Formule 1, iets waar Vettel zelf niet echt duidelijk over was.

Red Bull Racing-adviseur Helmut Marko zag zijn voormalige pupil afzwaaien van de sport. Marko deelde zijn gedachten over de zaak met Servus TV: "We zien allemaal wat voor personality hij is en wat voor gat hij zal gaan achterlaten. Het is zijn vrijwillige keuze en ik weet zeker dat wat hij ook gaat doen, hij er gelukkig door zal worden. Het is zeker niet ondenkbaar dat hij in een topfunctie in een management gaat terugkeren. Ik ben nu bijna 80 jaar, dus dat zou wel wat zijn."

    Ik zat ook zoiets te denken. Seb is een echte perfectionist die extreem van de details is en een onstilbare honger naar succes en competitie heeft. Na een jaartje of twee “family time” zie ik hem wel bij RBR aantreden. De rol van Marko zou idd wel iets kunnen zijn. Misschien dat hij zelfs nog even door Marko onder de vleugels genomen kan worden, mits de gezondheid van Marko dat nog toestaat.

      dat laatste is met een blikje Red Bull op te lossen, geeft je vleugels.
      Mocht hij in een andere rol bij RBR terugkeren, prima, maar hopelijk niet in een algemene topfunctie, Seb is iemand die naar mijn smaak zijn persoonlijke stempel teveel op de sport wil drukken.

      Seb gaat gewoon van zijn gezin genieten.
      Heeft zijn schaapjes al enige tijd op het droge en is voorlopig klaar met F1.
      Misschien commentaar geven bij het Duitse Sky,maar een stressvolle baan zie ik hem niet meer bekleden.

      Ik zie Vettel als begeleider van jong talent, denk ook dat hij daar echt wel de aangewezen persoon voor is.

      interview bij beyond the grid. gaf Vettel aan dat hij niks uitsluitte maar nu vooral voor zijn familie ging. Denk dan eerder 4/5 jaar.

    Audi stapt in 2026 in en zoekt een Duitse coureur. Zoals eerder aangegeven vind ik het altijd niet zo slim om een coureur puur op nationaliteit aan te stellen. Daarmee zeg je eigenlijk: "de nationaliteit van een coureur vind ik beter dan kwaliteit" en dat is feitelijk raar. In plaats van Mick Schumacher zou Audi zich kunnen richten op Vettel. Wil Vettel een comeback maken tegen die tijd? Geen idee, misschien wel helemaal niet. Maar je kan het als Audi zijnde altijd proberen als je per se een Duitser in die auto wil. Je hebt dan in ieder geval een topcoureur in plaats van een fletse coureur.

    Ik zou het ook goed begrijpen als Vettel zich op hele andere zaken wil focussen, die totaal niets met racen te maken hebben. We gaan het zien. Soms begint het juist weer te kriebelen bij coureurs als ze een tijdje afwezig zijn geweest.

      Ik zie hem niet meteen als coureur terug komen in 2026. 4 Jaar is te lang vrees ik.
      Ik zie hem echter wel als adviseur of teambaas terug komen bij Audi.

    Ik zie Vettel wel terugkeren op zijn oude nest bij Red Bull. Misschien het stokje van Helmut Marko over te nemen. Al zie ik hem ook zomaar de rol van David Coulthard overnemen. David is ook inmiddels de 50 gepasseerd. Al is die rol misschien meer iets voor Ricciardo.

    Seb en Helmut zijn altijd dikke maatjes gebleven. En als Helmut zo laat blijken dat hij zo gepassioneerd is wat Seb betreft. Zal er wel wat meer in het vat zitten de komende jaren.
