Horner blij met terugkeer Ricciardo: "Helpt Red Bull met ervaring en kennis"

Gisteren werd bekend dat Daniel Ricciardo volgend jaar terugkeert bij het team van Red Bull Racing. De goedlachse Australiër zal aankomend seizoen gaan fungeren als derde coureur bij de regerend constructeurskampioen. Teambaas Christian Horner is blij dat hij Ricciardo weer mag verwelkomen bij het team.

Ricciardo reed dit jaar nog voor het team van McLaren. De prestaties van de Australiër vielen echter tegen en McLaren maakte aan de vooravond van de Belgische Grand Prix bekend dat ze na dit seizoen zijn contract ontbinden. Ricciardo wordt volgend seizoen vervangen door Oscar Piastri en hij kon zelf op zoek gaan naar een nieuwe baan.

Karakter

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko onthulde eerder al dat de komst van Ricciardo zo goed als rond was. Gisteren kwam alles in kannen en kruiken en sprak teambaas Christian Horner zich enthousiast uit in een persbericht: "Het is fantastisch om Daniel weer terug te brengen in de Red Bull-familie. Hij heeft enorm veel talent en hij is een fantastisch karakter. Ik weet zeker dat iedereen op de fabriek blij is met zijn komst."

Rol

Wat Ricciardo's rol van derde coureur gaat inhouden is nog niet geheel duidelijk. Eerder maakte men immers al bekend dat Liam Lawson zal gaan fungeren als reservecoureur. Horner geeft iets meer duidelijkheid: "In zijn rol en testcoureur en derde coureur zal Daniel ons assisteren bij het ontwikkelen van de auto, helpt hij het team met zijn ervaringen en kennis. We zijn blij dat we weer met hem mogen samenwerken."

RBR heeft het aantal filmpjes behoorlijk teruggeschroefd.
Ik vond de wisselwerking tussen Max en Checo niet echt leuk/interessant/lollig.
Met Ricciardo vond ik dan vaak weer erg overdreven en gemaakt grappig.

    Hij heeft tenslotte niet voor niets de nieuwe bijnaam “Slow Ricciardo”.

    Dus eigenlijk zegt Horner op z'n Rocket powered Mohawk... Daniël is terug om om de rol van tweede coureur onder druk te zetten en de Mexicaan moet zich zorgen maken over het feit dat de Australiër terug is op het oude nest. So don't fok it Checo!

    Voor de uitstraling van RBR een goede zet. Ook v.w.b. het 'onder druk zetten' van Perez.

    Ben benieuwd of Ric tegen de tweevoudig wereldkampioen en eerste rijder het aandurft om in de schijtlollige filmpjes te doen of het zijn jongere irritante en minderwaardige broertje is.

    Met een '8-figure' afkoopsom van McLaren heeft Ricciardo de schaapjes ruimschoots op het droge. Goed voor de PR en promotie van het merk. Ik zie hem niet meer instappen tenzij er iets gebeurt met de coureurs. Ze zullen Lawson voor AT kiezen en Ricciardo voor RB. Ik denk dat hij het stokje van David Coulthard gaat overnemen.

      Ik denk dat je daar behoorlijk naast zit. Naar verluid zou Marko niet zo heel veel meer in Lawson zien. Deze zou zelfs gedegradeerd worden naar een Kapanse serie.

    Zijn kennis en ervaring hebben Ricciardo bij Renautl en McLaren niets opgeleverd en waarom zou het bij RBR anders zijn? Ik snap dat ze zich positief uitlaten na het aantrekken van Ricciardo, maar dat moet men met een korrel zout nemen. Een coureur die per jaar eigenlijk alleen maar slechter presteert, is naar mijn idee niet de coureur die je moet aantrekken. Ik vind Ricciardo een geweldige vent en gun het hem ook echt, maar vraag mij ook wel af wat Ricciardo voor RBR moet gaan betekenen.
