Abu Dhabi-training was waarschijnlijk laatste F1-kunstje Kubica

Afgelopen Grand Prix-weekend kwamen er veel rookies in actie tijdens de vrije trainingen. Het team van Alfa Romeo koos in Abu Dhabi ook voor een andere coureur, men koos namelijk voor de ervaren Robert Kubica. Het kan zomaar zo zijn dat dit de laatste keer was dat Kubica plaatsnam in een Formule 1-wagen.

De ervaren Kubica fungeerde dit seizoen als reserve van het team van Alfa Romeo. De Poolse coureur mocht in die hoedanigheid ook een aantal vrije trainingen rijden, waaronder dus op het Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Kubica vervulde vorig seizoen dezelfde rol en mocht toen zelfs twee races invallen vanwege een coronabesmetting van Kimi Räikkönen.

Zijn training in Abu Dhabi kan zomaar zijn laatste sessie in de Formule 1 zijn geweest. Tegenover de internationale media geeft hij dat eerlijk toe: "De enige reden dat ik hier nog steeds ben is dat ik soms mag rijden als reserve, dit weekend eindigde dat waarschijnlijk. Je hebt onze sponsor van Alfa Romeo, Orlen. We moeten eerst beslissen wat ze willen en daarna ga ik waarschijnlijk in gesprek met alle partijen. Wat er ook uitkomt, al is het met een ander team, ik wil betrokken en bruikbaar zijn. Ik wil er niet zijn als ik niets kan betekenen."

Wat hij in de renault liet zien voor zijn ongeluk was ongekend, en ik zag hem nog wel naast Alonso instappen bij Ferrari als vervanger van Massa (wss al in 2012). Ook daar had hij mijninziens mooie dingen kunnen laten zien.. Het mocht helaas niet zo zijn.

Hij heeft nog relatief lang mee mogen draaien na zijn comeback.
Sinds het ongeluk heeft hij helaas slechts gefigureerd, hoe spijtig ook.
Had graag gezien hoe ver hij had kunnen komen als het anders was gelopen.

  Iets teveel risico genomen in privétijd en daarmee zijn carrière verwoest. Volgens vele ‘kenners’ één van de grootste talenten ooit in de F1. Ik snapte zijn wil om terug te keren, maar toen het niet bleek te gaan had lekker iets anders moeten gaan doen i.p.v. rondhangen langs de zijlijn. De jongere generatie heeft geen idee wat de capaciteiten van deze man ooit waren. Spijtig. Hoe anders had het gelopen? En dan was Lewis geen 7-voudig wereldkampioen geweest?

Een topcoureur en ook nog eens een topvent.
Jammer van het dramatische ongeluk. Voor alle partijen, maar in het bijzonder voor hem.
Die laatste paar tienden is ie gewoon kwijt en da's em vergeven.

Eindelijk is dit "sprookje"ten einde.
Niks ten nadele van Kubica in persoon..maar een half invalide zou nooit,,maar dan ook nooit in een F1 moeten kunnen rijden

  het signaal van te makkelijk te besturen wagens is daarmee ook een feit.
  Messi kan met een gebroken teen geen goals scoren...maar Kubica met een half armpje kan wel 300+ racen tegen de"besten" ter wereld.
  Wat is dan de waarde van een overwinning als een half verlamde sporter in de koningsklasse kan fungeren...
