Verstappen dankt Gasly voor Red Bull-jaren: "Ik heb daar veel respect voor"

Pierre Gasly neemt na dit jaar afscheid van de Red Bull-familie. De Franse coureur vertrekt bij het team van AlphaTauri en rijdt vanaf aankomend seizoen voor het team van Alpine. Gasly oogst veel lof vanuit het Red Bull-kamp en ook Max Verstappen heeft de complimenten klaar liggen.

Gasly kende dit jaar een redelijk lastig seizoen bij AlphaTauri. Ondanks dat hij zijn contract verlengde bij de Italiaanse renstal, koos hij toch voor de overstap naar Alpine. De Franse renstal zocht een coureur na de rel omtrent Oscar Piastri. Gasly gaat nu voor het eerst in zijn Formule 1-loopbaan rijden voor een team buiten de Red Bull-familie.

Gasly was afgelopen weekend aanwezig bij de Honda Thanks Day op het circuit van Motegi. Ook Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen was aanwezig en hij sprak daar Gasly toe: "Pierre, we gaan samen ver terug. We reden in de karts al tegen elkaar en toen werden we ook allebei lid van de Red Bull-familie. We werden zelfs teamgenoten in de Formule 1 en ik weet hoe getalenteerd je bent. Je werkt er hard voor om te bereiken wat je wilt bereiken en je bent bij AlphaTauri een echte leider geweest. Ik heb daar veel respect voor."
