Dominantie Verstappen in cijfers: Perez blijft vrijwel op elk punt achter

Max Verstappen kende dit jaar een zeer succesvol seizoen in de Formule 1. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur prolongeerde zonder al te veel moeite zijn wereldtitel en brak daarnaast meerdere records. Hij was beduidend sneller dan zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez en de cijfers wijzen dat oud.

Verstappen eindigde dit seizoen als eerste in het wereldkampioenschap terwijl Perez derde werd, de Mexicaan verspilde de tweede plaats in het kampioenschap in de seizoensfinale in Abu Dhabi. Verstappen verbrak tevens het record van de meeste WK-punten in één seizoen, hij eindigde het jaar met 454 punten. Perez pakte 305 punten en was daarmee verantwoordelijk voor zo'n 40 procent van het puntentotaal van Red Bull. Verstappen was dus verantwoordelijk voor 60 procent van de Red Bull-punten.

Races

Qua uitslagen lopen Verstappen en Perez opvallend gelijk. Beide coureurs hebben als hoogste finishplek de eerste plaats achter hun naam staan en als laagste finishplek de zevende plaats. Verstappen kwam echter twintig keer over de finishlijn terwijl Perez maar negentien keer een race uitreed. Wel werden allebei de Red Bull-coureur niet gelapt in het gehele seizoen 2022.

Kwalificaties

Ook op de zaterdagen toonde Verstappen zich dit seizoen oppermachtig. De Nederlander pakte in totaal zeven pole positions terwijl Perez alleen de hoogste startplek claimde tijdens het Saoedische Grand Prix-weekend, het was tevens de eerste pole uit de loopbaan van de Mexicaan. Verstappen bereikte 22 keer, in alle races dus, het derde kwalificatiedeel terwijl Perez dit maar 19 keer deed.

Over 20 kijkt iedereen terug op deze periode naar de sterke en dominante Verstappen die als eerste slachtoffers zijn teamgenoten de mentale vernieling inreed. Pérez zal herinnerd worden als de beste Mexicaanse coureur uit deze periode als ook de sterkste teammaat van Max ooit. Al die cijfertjes die zijn de meeste al lang vergeten

De hamvraag is of we al die statistische onzin recordstatus gaan geven. Het wel Verstappen he, dus ik zeg doen! Een record is een record.
Wist u bij voorbeeld dat ook ome Jos records in handen heeft? Bijvoorbeeld het meeste aantal op 16 na snelste rondes in de wedstrijd, zijnde 18 keer.

  Meestal ja. Behalve als hij als enige op slicks start. En daarbij kan ik maar 1 regenrace herinneren waar Jos Verstappen goed was. En dat was in Sepang Maleisië. Weet even niet meer welk jaar dat was.
