Binotto snel terug? "Ik weet dat hij praat met Audi"

Eerder deze week werd bekend gemaakt dat Mattia Binotto eind dit jaar vertrekt als teambaas bij het team van Ferrari. De Italiaan verlaat het team na vele jaren van trouwe dienst. Het lijkt er echter sterk op dat hij snel weer aan de slag kan want volgens Italiaanse bronnen is er genoeg interesse.

Het vertrek van Binotto hing al geruime tijd in de lucht maar werd deze week officieel gemaakt. Ferrari beleefde dit jaar een seizoen met zeer veel ups en downs. De Italiaanse renstal begon het seizoen nog zeer goed met twee zeges in de eerste drie Grands Prix maar daarna stagneerde de opmars. Betrouwbaarheidsproblemen en tactische misperen gooide uiteindelijk roet in het eten.

Elkann

Geruime tijd gingen er geruchten rond over een verslechterde band tussen Binotto en Ferrari-kopstuk John Elkann. Binotto vertrekt nu en Elkann moet opzoek gaan naar een opvolger. De Italiaanse journalist Leo Turrini legt de situatie uit bij Radio24: "Binotto en Elkann waren als water en olie. Wanneer de voorzitter van Ferrari het vertrouwen verliest in de teambaas, dan is dit de enige logische oplossing.

Audi

Volgens de Italiaanse media is er veel interesse voor de diensten van Binotto. Corriere della Sera vermoedt dat Binotto aan de slag kan gaan bij de Renault Group, de eigenaren van het team van Alpine. Turrini denkt ook dat Binotto snel weer terugkeert in de koningsklasse van de autosport: "Binotto zal snel aan de slag gaan bij de concurrentie. Ik weet dat hij bijvoorbeeld praat met Audi."

Het zal me niet verbazen als hij al zo goed als rond is met één van die partijen en daarom zelf zijn ontslag heeft ingediend.

  Ik denk dat ie het aan heeft zien komen en al een backup aan het regelen was. Maar voor de motoren afdeling is het zeker geen verkeerde.

  Audi maakt werk van zijn intrede in de Formule 1 in 2026.
  De Duitse autofabrikant bouwt in Neuburg aan een complex van 3000 vierkante meter waar de motor voor de Formule 1-wagens zullen worden getest en ontwikkeld.
  Er werken momenteel al meer dan tweehonderd mensen aan het Formule 1-project van Audi, medio 2023 zullen dat er driehonderd zijn.

Audi zou het meest logisch zijn. Succes en neem gelijk Rueda, Mekies en Sainz mee aub.

  Sainz heeft de illusie dat ie wdc kan worden. Die laat Binotto lekker bij de Scuderia, Rueda mag op visvakantie en Mekies mag blij zijn met een job als koffiejuf
