Verstappen kan nog geen favoriete titel kiezen: "Wel als ik een derde pak"

Max Verstappen nam gisteren in Bologna zijn beker voor zijn wereldtitel in ontvangst tijdens het FIA Prize Giving Gala. De Nederlander sprak voorafgaand de ceremonie ook nog eventjes met de wereldpers. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur wilde daar niet kiezen tussen zijn titels.

Verstappen prolongeerde dit seizoen zijn wereldtitel. In tegenstelling tot 2021 kreeg Verstappen dit jaar vrij weinig tegenstand in zijn zegentocht. De Nederlander won een recordaantal van vijftien Grands Prix en mocht dan ook al in Japan zijn wereldtitelfeestje vieren. Hij kan niet kiezen tussen zijn twee succesjaren, vorig jaar schreef hij immers ook al geschiedenis met zijn titelstrijd met Lewis Hamilton.

Verschillend

Voorafgaand het FIA Prize Giving Gala schoof Verstappen aan bij de internationale media. Hij werd daar gevraagd naar zijn beste wereldtitel maar de Limburgse coureur wilde daar geen duidelijk antwoord op geven: "Ze zijn heel erg verschillend. De eerste was enorm emotioneel en dat wil ik niet inwisselen voor dit jaar. Als ik dan toch een derde titel kan pakken, dan kan ik gaan kiezen!"

Leuk

Verstappen genoot dit jaar in ieder geval wel van zijn enorm succesvolle seizoen. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur doet daar in ieder geval niet heel erg geheimzinnig over bij de wereldpers: "Het was afgelopen seizoen in ieder geval wel echt ontzettend leuk. Een jaar eerder was het de eerste keer dat ik mij in zo'n titelstrijd bevond. Elke jaar verschilt het weer en dat is dan ook weer het mooie van onze sport."
