Netflix-held Steiner geniet van status: "Ik deed gewoon mijn werk"

Günther Steiner stond tot enkele jaren geleden alleen bekend als de teambaas van Haas. Sinds de komst van de Netflix-reeks 'Drive to Survive' is Steiner echter ook uitgegroeid tot een soort cultheld. De Italiaan kan wel lachen om zijn cultstatus en hij geeft aan dat zijn werkgever Haas er ook de nodige centen aan kan verdienen.

Steiner groeide door zijn prominente aanwezigheid in 'Drive to Survive' in korte tijd uit tot een beroemdheid. De teambaas van Haas kwam al snel bekend te staan om zijn gevloek en zijn opvallende uitspraken. Terwijl de resultaten van het team achterbleven, groeide de status van Steiner met de dag.

Gewoon werk

Steiner zelf heeft totaal geen problemen met het ontstane beeld. De Italiaan denkt dat hij niets bijzonders heeft gedaan en in gesprek met het Britse The Mirror spreekt hij zich uit: "Ik deed gewoon mijn werk, mensen vinden het leuk wat ik doe. Liberty Media en Netflix hebben er het beste uitgehaald en ineens weten mensen wie ik ben! Het is niet dat dit al jaren in mijn planning stond. Het gebeurt gewoon en soms is het ook een last. Iedereen kijkt naar je en veel mensen kennen je."

Denk dat het vooral komt door de _we look like a bunch of wankers_ :) na een dubbele uitval in kansrijke posities op de baan? gis ik ff uit mijn hoofd. Als het anders zat hoor ik het graag. Mensen vinden dat grappig, ook niet echt standaard teambazen taal, lijkt me. Toto Wolff wilde dat ook, zo'n cultstatus en dacht als ik nou eens op tafels ga meppen en koptelefoons ga mishandelen:p. It backfired haha

"Ik deed gewoon mijn werk"

Ja je was en bent een persoon op een positie waarbij het publiek je grillen gezien heeft middels een "documentaire". In deze "documentaire" konden we zien wat voor incompetent persoon je eigenlijk echt bent. Een persoon die geen macht heeft. Een persoon die voor de bühne zich uitspraken laat ontlokken en nu daarmee lekker loopt te paraderen. Als mijn manager zo zou zijn in de omgang zoals Steiner, dan had deze al lang een poffer op de neus gehad en had ik mijn ontslag nog veel eerder dan dat ingediend. Wat een clown.

Qua pr vond ik de Haas / Miami GP poster briljant. Verwijzend naar GTA: Vice City. Er zit wel creativiteit daar en zulk soort dingen wil ik wel vaker zien en ook van andere teams.

Netflix moet toch gewoon groot op de achtervleugel staan bij Haas... gewoon elk seizoen 3 extra afleveringen met Gunther en het bedrag is terug betaald aan kijkcijfers.

Ach, in DTS zagen we ontzettend veel nepzooi. En een flink deel van de Gunther sectie was deel van. Hand in hand lopen met een tienerdochter, aan de eettafel de dag bespreken... helemaaaaal niet gemaakt hoor.

Dat hij wat scheldwoorden gebruikt is leuk en aardig, maar het is vooral een zwakte en een gebrek aan karakter wat ik daar zag. Ik heb niets met Grosjean, maar dat hij die effe in de maat nam tijdens dat diner, terwijl hij er niet eens bij was is gewoon onnodig. Verder is het ook duidelijk dat hij ontzettend hangt op Ayao Komatsu.
