Steiner haalt schouders op over Ferrari-samenwerking: "Laat ze het maar zeggen"

Het team van Haas is sinds 2016 actief in de Formule 1. Al sinds het prille begin heeft men een verregaand technische samenwerking met Ferrari. Na de successen van Haas in begin 2022 stelden concurrerende teams direct weer vragen over deze samenwerking. Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner haalt zijn schouders erover op.

Haas kende afgelopen jaar een redelijk succesvol seizoen. Na een puntloos 2021 nam Haas afgelopen jaar sportieve revanche, al in de openingsrace in Bahrein kwam Kevin Magnussen als vijfde over de streep. Magnussen en teamgenoot Mick Schumacher scoorden regelmatig punten en Magnussen pakte in Brazilië zelfs de pole position. Na de vijfde plaats van Magnussen in Bahrein werden er alweer vraagtekens gezet bij de samenwerking tussen Haas en Ferrari.

Bij Haas heeft men nooit geheimzinnig gedaan over de verregaande samenwerking met Ferrari. Men gaf in het verleden zelfs aan dat ze openstaan voor onderzoeken naar de samenwerking. Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner maakt zich er niet zo druk meer om in gesprek met Motorsport.com: "Als je het goed doet, dan zegt men dat je de boel kopieert. Als je het niet goed doet, dan boeit niemand het. Laat ze het maar zeggen, we hebben dit riedeltje al vaker gehoord. Het doet mij echt helemaal niets. Het kan mij niets schelen."

Ik herinner me een paar jaar geleden ook een Force India die zoveel op de Mercedes leek, dat ze die de ‘roze Mercedes’ noemde. En inderdaad Red Bull en Alpha Tauri doen niet anders
