Perez bespreekt opvallend hoogtepunt: "Speciale dag voor mij"

Sergio Perez kende afgelopen jaar het succesvolste seizoen uit zijn lange Formule 1-loopbaan. De Mexicaanse coureur won twee Grands Prix en werd uiteindelijk derde in de eindstand van het wereldkampioenschap. De Red Bull Racing-coureur beschouwt opvallend genoeg een moment naast de baan als zijn hoogtepunt van het jaar.

Perez was afgelopen seizoen dus zeer succesvol in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Alhoewel hij ruim werd verslagen door zijn teamgenoot, en wereldkampioen, Max Verstappen, werd hij hartstochtelijk toegejuicht door de Mexicaanse fans. Voorafgaand zijn thuisrace mocht Perez in zijn thuisstad Guadalajara een demorun rijden. Perez genoot en er kwamen vele duizenden fans af op het speciale moment.

Voor Perez was het dan ook één van zijn hoogtepunten van het afgelopen seizoen. De Mexicaanse coureur genoot er intens van en stak dat niet onder stoelen of banken. In gesprek met de Mexicaanse media-afdeling van Red Bull spreekt hij zich erover uit: "Het was een speciale dag voor mij. Het gebeurde na zoveel jaar eindelijk en er waren heel erg veel mensen bij mij thuis. Het was zeker één van de meest speciale momenten uit mijn Formule 1-loopbaan."
