Berger heeft ondanks dood Mateschitz nog nauwe banden met Red Bull

Tijdens het Amerikaanse Grand Prix-weekend in 2022 werd de Formule 1-wereld opgeschrikt door het nieuws van het overlijden van Dietrich Mateschitz. De Oostenrijkse Red Bull-eigenaar liet een groot gat achter maar dat betekent niet dat iedereen Red Bull laat vallen. Ook Gerhard Berger gooit de deur niet dicht.

Mateschitz was een graag geziene gast in de Formule 1-paddock. De Oostenrijker was de eigenaar van de teams van Red Bull Racing en AlphaTauri. Mateschitz was al geruime tijd ziek maar toch kwam zijn overlijden als een grote verrassing voor velen. Zijn dood zorgde voor veel emotie bij de Red Bull-teams maar ook bij de rest van de sport.

Vriend

Ook de Oostenrijkse oud-coureur Gerhard Berger was zwaar aangedaan door de dood van Mateschitz. Berger zag de Red Bull-topman als één van zijn beste vrienden. In gesprek met Speedweek spreekt Berger zich erover uit: "Hij werd overal gewaardeerd als entrepreneur, sociale man en sportpromotor. Voor mij was er geen andere vriend waar ik langer op kon vertrouwen. Ik kon altijd op hem rekenen en hij kon altijd op mij rekenen."

Familie

De dood van Mateschitz betekent echter niet dat Berger de Red Bull-deur heeft dichtgegooid. De Oostenrijker laat namelijk weten nog steeds een warme band te hebben met zijn landgenoten: "Ik heb nog steeds de verbinding met de familie, met Mark, Marion en Anita. Dat is voor mij het allerbelangrijkste. Ik heb ook nog contact met het bedrijf, ik ken alle sleutelspelers. We zijn nog steeds logistieke partners en ik ga ervanuit dat dit nog wel eventjes duurt."

  Ik zie hetzelfde probleem. De opmaak van de site gaat daar stuk.
  Het lijkt erop dat in de post van Larry iets staat wat niet goed als tekst wordt afgevangen en door de site/browser als opmaak wordt gezien.
