Complimenten voor Verstappen: "Bij Max is er een soort wow-factor"

Max Verstappen is nog maar 25 jaar oud, maar kan dit jaar wel op jacht gaan naar zijn derde wereldtitel in de Formule 1. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur krijgt de mensen op de banken en ook Johnny Herbert is nog steeds onder de indruk. De Brit ziet nog steeds een wow-factor bij Verstappen.

Verstappen was vorig seizoen dominant in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De Limburgse coureur reed afgelopen jaar zijn allersterkste seizoen uit zijn Formule 1-loopbaan. Verstappen verbrak meerdere records waaronder de meeste WK-punten ooit in één seizoen en de meeste Grand Prix-zeges in een jaargang. Aankomend seizoen gaat de 25-jarige dus weer op jacht naar een wereldtitel.

Jongeling

De Britse oud-coureur en huidig analist Johnny Herbert geniet nog steeds elke race van Verstappen. Herbert is nog steeds onder de indruk van de jonge leeftijd van Verstappen. Bij Motorsport-Total spreekt hij zich uit: "Ik was 24 jaar oud toen ik debuteerde in de Formule 1. Toen was dat zeer jong, nu ben je oud. Er komt een enorm goede generatie aan, maar we hebben ook nog de oudjes Hamilton en Alonso. Max was de eerste jongeling die doorbrak."

Wow-factor

Verstappen is nu al de succesvolste coureur van zijn generatie en Herbert geniet met volle teugen van de successen van de Red Bull-coureur. De Brit deelt dan ook zijn complimenten uit: "Ik ben nog steeds onder de indruk als ik hem zie rijden. Bij Max is er echt een soort wow-factor. Speciale coureurs hebben iets extra's dat ervoor zorgt dat ze races winnen en belangrijker nog: dat ze wereldtitels winnen."

Nu serieus:
Verreweg de beste van de afgelopen 3 jaar. Als hij dit niveau volhoudt de komende 4 jaar is hij voor mij de beste van het hybride tijdperk. En dat zou ik ook vinden indien hij geen titels meer wint.

Johnny heeft - nu iedereen tijdens de winterstop een beetje in slaap is gedommeld - een veilig moment gekozen om zijn liefde (opnieuw) te openbaren. Doet Herbert dat tussen races in wordt ie op het eiland gelyncht...

Nee geen getrol.
Zelfs een blinde ziet dat Max de x factor heeft op de racebaan, spectaculair en mega snel. Soms wat overmoedig, maar niemand is perfect.
Naast de racebaan is hij niks op opvallends of uithangbord maar dat boeit mij niet echt en de meesten niet, het draait om het racen op de baan.
De F1 had een Max nodig, zoals een lec en rus.
