Haas wil zelfstandiger worden: "Denk dat het mogelijk is in 2 of 3 jaar"

Het team van Haas werkte in de afgelopen jaren innig samen met motorleverancier Ferrari. De Amerikaanse renstal is echter van plan om deze samenwerking in de komende jaren af te zwakken. Teambaas Günther Steiner laat weten dat dit plan uitvoerbaar is en er snel meer duidelijkheid komt.

Haas betrad in 2016 de Formule 1 en werkt al sinds het begin veel samen met Ferrari. De Italianen zijn al sinds het begin af aan de motorleverancier van Haas en daarnaast werd er ook samengewerkt op andere vlakken. Zo reed toenmalig Ferrari-junior Mick Schumacher twee seizoenen voor Haas en had het team een onderkomen vlakbij de Ferrari-fabriek in Maranello.

Pandemie

Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner laat echter weten dat er snel meer duidelijkheid zal komen over de onafhankelijkheid van Ferrari. De Italiaan spreekt zich uit bij Auto, Motor und Sport: "We zijn in staat om zelfstandig de transmissie en de ophanging te ontwikkelen en meer zelfstandig te zijn. We dachten hier voor het eerst aan in 2018 en we maakten zelfs een plan van actie. We wilden het doel binnen een paar jaar halen, maar in 2020 werden we gehinderd door de pandemie."

Keuze maken

De plannen werden dus eventjes in de koelkast geplaatst, maar inmiddels is daar weer verandering in gekomen. Steiner en consorten willen er graag weer mee aan de slag gaan. Steiner: "We denken er nu over na hoe we meer op ons zelf kunnen gaan werken. Laten we eens gaan kijken wat er gebeurt in het nieuwe seizoen. Daarna maken we een keuze. Ik denk dat dit mogelijk is in twee of drie jaar."

Ik heb eens zitten koekeloeren bij jullie bron... maar ik kan t artikel niet vinden. Daarnaast staat dit artikel erg wankel, waardoor de geloofwaardigheid er wat af is.

Ik lees graag t origineel, dus mocht het bestaan wordt ik er graag op gewezen, maar het lijkt mij niet aannemelijk dat Haas een versnellingsbak of ophanging eerder in eigen handen neemt dan de productie van aero (dat geproduceerd wordt bij Dallara)

Force India was een prachtig voorbeeld. Geen extra geld steken in dingen met minimale winst en alles op aero/chassis.
