Alonso barst van de ambities en wil in 2024 voor de zeges vechten

Gisteren trok het team van Aston Martin het doek van de nieuwe AMR23. Voor Fernando Alonso wordt het de eerste Aston Martin-bolide waar hij mee gaat racen in de Formule 1. De Spaanse tweevoudig wereldkampioen heeft er alle vertrouwen in en wil zelfs een basis gaan leggen voor zeges.

Alonso's overstap van Alpine naar Aston Martin zorgde vorig jaar zomer voor de nodige verbazing. Gisteren straalde de Spanjaard tijdens de presentatie van de wagen echter veel zelfvertrouwen uit. Na een 2022 met veel goede resultaten en pijnlijke uitvalbeurten wil Alonso weer gaan jagen op nieuwe successen, hij blijft echter rustig onder de situatie.

Bahrein

Alonso weet dat de start van het aanstaande seizoen mogelijk heel erg lastig zal zijn. Aston Martin moet een flinke inhaalslag plegen en tegenover de internationale media is hij eerlijk: "Ik ben mij er bewust van dat we niet op 100 procent zullen zijn in Bahrein en Saoedi-Arabië. Misschien is dat ook het geval in Australië. Ik denk dat dit de enige sport is waar je anderhalve dag voorbereidingstijd krijgt op een wereldkampioenschap."

Zeges

De tweevoudig wereldkampioen is echter niet naar Aston Martin gekomen om voor de kruimels te strijden. Alonso wil op de iets langere termijn op de deur van de top gaan kloppen. Hij is daar nogal stellig in: "Ik denk dat wij meer mogelijkheden hebben om volgend seizoen voor de zeges en de podiumplaatsen te kunnen vechten. Dat kan als wij aankomend seizoen een goede basis weten neer te zetten."

Ik vind het een prachtkerel. Sterke identiteit, goeie kop en een senior die jou nog keihard rijles geeft. Nog steeds torenhoge ambities en heeft elk team nu bijna gehad. Teamhopper, mooi is dat. Uitstervend ras.

Ik hoop 't voor hem.
Was vroeger niet echt voor Alonso,maar nu is dat 180 graden omgedraaid.
Geweldige vent met een eigen uitgesproken mening.

  Zijn uitspraken moet je soms met een flinke korrel zout nemen of van een ander standpunt bekijken.... Als hij en/of het team zich maar anderhalve dag heeft voorbereid op volgend seizoen, hebben ze een groot probleem 😉

  Altijd een Ferrari liefhebber geweest maar sinds zijn komst in F1 vind ik het een verademing. Ook toen hij de hegemonie van Schumacher verbrak. Wat een strijder. Veel mensen moesten m toen niet. Snap werkelijk niet waarom niet. Ik dacht alleen maar, die moet een Ferrari rijder worden.

  Alflonzo: ik vond hem irritant zoals je Neymar irritant kunt vinden. Heel goed, maar altijd liggen miepen om vanalles. Soort van verwend ofzo. Type speler die om kaarten vraagt, iets wat je Lewis nu ook vaak ziet doen.
  Ik weet nog da ti kdat toen echt zo voelde, maar ik kan het gevoel niet meer terug oproepen. Echt volledig 180 graden gedraaid.

  Heyy P34, ja veel mensen vonden dat, ik kan t me niet herinneren. Hij speelde soms mindgames met Schumacher maar die was daar zelf ook niet vies van, en die had ook zn truukendoos, evenals de politiek die werd bedreven om de massa demper verboden te krijgen toen andere teams het zelf niet voor elkaar kregen. Volgens mij is Alonso niet zoveel veranderd. Karate kid heeft ie gelukkig wel achter zich gelaten. Gimmicks doen mij verder sowieso niet zoveel. Stukje show
