Perez vol vertrouwen: "Geweldig om sterker te starten dan vorig jaar"

Het team van Red Bull Racing oogde sterk tijdens de afgelopen drie testdagen op het circuit van Sakhir in Bahrein. De Oostenrijkse renstal was snel, maakte veel rondjes en werd weer tot topfavoriet gebombardeerd. Sergio Perez is tevreden en heeft het gevoel dat men verder is dan in 2022.

Perez nam gisteren de gehele testdag voor zijn rekening. De dag verliep naar wens voor de Mexicaan en in de middagsessie ging hij daarna snel in de rondte. Perez snoepte de snelste tijd af van Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton en verbeterde zichzelf daarna. Perez reed de snelste tijd van de wintertest en Red Bull heeft weer alle ogen op zich gericht.

Fabriek

Sergio Perez was na afloop zeer tevreden met zijn prestaties en de prestaties van zijn naam. In aanloop naar de seizoenstart van volgende week reageerde hij positief bij de media-afdeling van de Formule 1: "Op de fabriek is er hard gewerkt in de winter. We hebben zeker een goede basis, het is iets waar we mee verder kunnen. Ik denk dat we er volgende week achter gaan komen waar we staan. Dit omdat dit soort dagen niet het volledige beeld geven."

Sterkere manier

Perez denkt dat er volgende week nog veel meer gaat gebeuren in Bahrein. De Mexicaanse Red Bull Racing-coureur gaat ervanuit dat er nog het nodige gaat gebeuren, maar hij heeft tevens heel erg veel vertrouwen: "De condities zullen volgende week vergelijkbaar zijn met wat wij deze avond hebben meegemaakt. Het is echt geweldig om het seizoen te starten op een sterkere manier dan vorig jaar."
