Fransman Jean-Eric Vergne stapt in bij Toro Rosso

De 21-jarige Fransman Jean-Eric Vergne zal binnenkort een kans krijgen bij Scuderia Toro Rosso. Hij zal op de vrijdag in één van de wagens gaan stappen om zichzelf zo te kunnen bewijzen, zo meldt de BBC.

Vergne reed vorig jaar al in Abu Dhabi tijdens de young driver test, toen hij ook bij Toro Rosso een kans kreeg. Nu zal hij opnieuw een kans krijgen, tijdens de eerste vrije training op de vrijdagen, vanaf het moment dat zijn World Series-seizoen is afgelopen - 9 oktober in Barcelona.

Racecoureurs Jaime Alguersuari en Sebastien Buemi zullen om de beurt plaatsmaken. Met de kans die Vergne zal krijgen, is dit de volgende stap van het young driver programme van Red Bull, nadat het team enkele weken geleden een stoeltje bij HRT inkocht om Daniel Ricciardo klaar te stomen voor een racezitje volgend jaar bij één van de Red Bull-teams.
