Verstappen tevreden na sterke vrijdag: "Verschillen niet zoals in Bahrein"

Max Verstappen kende een ijzersterke vrijdag op het Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saoedi-Arabië. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur noteerde in allebei de vrije trainingen de snelste tijd. Na afloop van de tweede vrije training was de stemming bij de Nederlander dan ook opperbest.

Verstappen arriveerde vandaag pas voor het eerst op het circuit in Jeddah. De regerend wereldkampioen vloog later naar Saoedi-Arabië omdat hij in de afgelopen dagen kampte met een buikgriep. De ziekte leek hem niets te doen tijdens de eerste twee vrije trainingen. Verstappen zat al snel weer op de limiet en noteerde in allebei de sessies de snelste tijd. In de tweede vrije training was het gat met de concurrentie wel kleiner dan eerder op de dag.

Na afloop van de tweede vrije training overheerste er dan ook een positief gevoel bij Verstappen. Eenmaal uit zijn wagen sprak de Red Bull-coureur zich uit bij Verstappen.com: "We hadden een positieve dag. Allebei de sessies verliepen vlot en zonder problemen, de balans van de auto was ook goed. Er zijn echter nog best wel wat dingen die we beter kunnen doen. Bij de lange runs lag iedereen heel erg dicht bij elkaar, maar dat komt vooral doordat iedereen de banden aan het managen was. Het is echt niet zoals het in Bahrein was."
