Aston Martin reageerde sportief op Alonso-straf: "Applaus voor Fernando"

Fernando Alonso reed gisteren in Saoedi-Arabië weer een zeer sterke Grand Prix. De Spaanse Aston Martin-coureur startte als tweede en greep zelfs de leiding bij de start. Door een laat uitgedeelde tijdstraf verloor hij uiteindelijk zijn podiumplek, hij reageerde echter sportief. Ook Aston Martin houdt het hoofd omhoog.

Alonso kreeg al in de eerste rondjes van de Grand Prix een tijdstraf van vijf seconden omdat hij niet goed in zijn startvlak stond. Toen hij zijn tijdstraf inloste, raakte men te vroeg zijn wagen aan en dat leverde hem na de podiumceremonie een straf op. Aston Martin reageerde sterk op Twitter: "Applaus voor Fernando, hij zorgde voor entertainment en liet een goede pace zien. Team, bedankt voor jullie support!" De straf werd later teruggedraaid door de stewards waardoor Alonso zijn podium behield.

    het blijft een held, je zou verwachten dat je op die leeftijd zegt: bekijk het maar ik ga met pensoen, maar hij blijft maar doorgaan, en goed ook. puur passie.want voor geld of roem hoeft hij het niet meer te doen.

      Ja ja, dat willen coureurs en media je graag doen geloven. Als 'puur passie' de motivatie was zouden ze allemaal voor een appel en een ei rijden. Of op het circuit om de hoek.
      Je zou de inspanningen van ouwe Jos (die ook niet verder komt dan een handvol races) misschien zo kunnen benoemen. Kortom, niet naief zijn.

    Tijdstraffen NA de race zouden als illegaal moeten worden bestempeld. Het ontneemt de coureur namelijk de mogelijkheid daar iets tegen te uit te richten. Voorts hoort bij het uitdelen ervan snelrecht van toepassing te zijn, en geen eindeloos gepuzzel. De eerste tijdstraf van Alonso had al tijdens de openingsronde medegedeeld kunnen worden.
    En als het toch niet anders kan, kan de straf ook meegenomen worden naar de volgende race (of bv omgezet in een startplaats achteruit.
    Tijdstraffen tijdens de race zijn okee, maar nog beter is een 'strafbochtje'. Dan zie je meteen wat dit voor hun positie betekent. Ieder circuit zou zo iets moeten hebben, en het is vrijwel altijd binnen de bestaande faciliteiten tegen minimale kosten te realiseren. Het is aan de hemeltergende arrogantie van F1 te wijten dat dit niet allang is ingevoerd.
