Wolff is blij met continue steun van aandeelhouders - ondanks matige start 2023

Terwijl het Formule 1-team van Mercedes voor het tweede achtereenvolgende seizoen een slechte start heeft, is diens teambaas Toto Wolff tevreden met het feit dat grootaandeelhouders Mercedes Benz en Ineos het team nog onverbiddelijk blijven steunen.

De Duitse renstal poogde om de goede momentum van vorig jaar richting 2023 voort te zetten, maar moest daarbij een bittere pil slikken. Niet alleen wist concurrent Red Bull opnieuw een flinke stap voor de rest te blijven, maar moest Mercedes vervolgens ook nog op een aantal momenten de Britsgroene Aston Martin-auto’s voor zich dulden.

Nu het team in een nieuwe ontwikkelingsrichting lijkt te gaan stappen, laat Mercedes-teambaas Toto Wolff weten zeer blij te zijn dat grootaandeelhouders Mercedes Benz en Ineos het Formule 1-kamp nog steeds volop steunen: "De mensen die Mercedes Benz en Ineos regeren zijn individuen die altijd op een hoog niveau presteren – zowel in de zakelijke wereld als in de sportwereld."

"We hebben allemaal onze hoog- en laagtepunten, en er is zoveel steun van hen om ons weer terug op het goede pad te krijgen. Je kunt geen betere steunen van Jim (Radcliffe van Ineos) en Ola (Kallenius van Mercedes Benz) wensen", sluit Wolff af.

Mercedes staat momenteel op een derde constructeursplaats, waarbij het een gelijk aantal punten met concurrent Aston Martin heeft.

Hij werd daar aangekondigd als de achtvoudig WK.
