Video: Red Bull maakt bijzondere Australische promotievideo met Ricciardo in hoofdrol

Het Formule 1-team van Red Bull heeft het wéér voor elkaar gekregen. Na krankzinnige specials zoals met een F1-auto door de Nederlandse straten te racen of donuts op een helikopterplatform, komt de energiedrankjesgigant nu met een promotievideo op de proppen die speciaal gemaakt die voor de aankomende Grand Prix van Australië.

Het is weer officieel raceweek. Aankomend weekend zal de Grand Prix van Australië op het Melbourne Park circuit verreden worden. De goedlachse Daniel Ricciardo staat weliswaar niet op de Formule 1-grid, maar weet wel de hoofdrol in Red Bulls meest recente promotievideo te pakken.

Om de hype rondom wat alweer de derde Grand Prix van 2023 zal zijn op te bouwen, heeft Red Bull een speciale video gemaakt. Naast Ricciardo komt ook F1-strateeg Hannah Schmitz in beeld. Red Bull-topsporters Matt Hall, Toby Price en Shane van Gisbergen maken ook deel uit van de speciale beelden.

De RB7 met Ricciardo aan boord scheurt door het stoffige en zanderige landschap waarbij onder andere een helikopter, stuntvliegtuig en Australische supercar hem vergezellen. Laatstgenoemde voertuig met van Gisbergen aan boord begeleid Ricciardo door een rondje over het legendarische Mount Panorama Circuit.

Met deze promotievideo is Ricciardo’s terugkomst bij Red Bull volgens velen nu officieel.

Het is gewoon niet meer echt vernieuwend en verassend.
Je weet wat er gaat gebeuren, bedoel de grote lijnen.
Het is filmmatisch gewoon top maar thematisch weten we het nu wel.

Het is alleen Danny Ric niet, maar Liam Lawson. Ric was op dat moment in de VS voor een PR event en er circuleren beelden rond van Lawson op de filmsets.

Maar los daarvan, dit zijn wel weer de dingen die een team als Red Bull uniek maken binnen de F1, hoewel de rock-n-roll mentaliteit uit de begin jaren wel flink minder is geworden, maar dat is logisch met professionalisering en het aan de top moeten presteren.

Ik had gehoopt dat Alpine - losgerukt van het corporate Renault keurslijf - ook wat meer edgier en kleurrijker zou profileren, maar ik vind dat tot op heden nog een beetje tegenvallen.
