Steiner ziet Haas sterk presteren: "Over één rondje net zo snel als Alpine"

Het Formule 1-veld zit momenteel zeer dicht bij elkaar. Red Bull Racing steekt met kop en schouders boven de rest uit, maar daarachter is het eigenlijk één groot middenveld. Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner geniet daarvan, de Italiaan denkt zelfs dat zijn team meerdere concurrenten te slim af kan zijn.

Red Bull is momenteel ijzersterk in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Aston Martin lijkt het tweede team te zijn, maar veel andere renstallen zitten daar zeer dicht achter. Een echte rangorde lijkt er dan ook niet te zijn, geen enkel team draagt de rode lantaarn en iedereen is in staat om WK-punten te pakken. Het team van Haas mengt zich ook in de duels.

Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner geniet van de goede resultaten van zijn renstal. De populaire Italiaan is van mening dat ze meerdere teams kunnen bijhouden. In gesprek met Auto, Motor und Sport spreekt Steiner zich uit: "Over één rondje zijn we net zo snel als Alpine. Onze coureurs kunnen allebei in Q3 terecht komen. Nico had in Saoedi-Arabië pech omdat een rondje voor hem was gecanceld. In de laatste minuten van Q2 dat hij het één en ander weg gaf in de laatste bocht. Kevin had daar dan weer last van zijn versnellingsbak. Zonder die problemen zou hij ook Q3 hebben bereikt."
