FIA verduidelijkt regels na incident met Alonso in Jeddah

Aan de vooravond van de Australische Grand Prix heeft de FIA een richtlijn aangepast om onduidelijkheden te voorkomen. Het draait hierbij om het veelbesproken krikincident met Fernando Alonso in Saoedi-Arabië. De tijdstraf van de Spanjaard werd daar teruggedraaid door onduidelijkheden in het regelboek, dat is nu verleden tijd.

Alonso kreeg in Saoedi-Arabië een tijdstraf voor het feit dat hij een eerdere tijdstraf niet op de correcte wijze had ingelost. De Aston Martin-coureur had een straf van vijf seconden gekregen, maar tijdens zijn pitstop raakte de krik de wagen al binnen de straftijd aan. De stewards deelden een straf uit, maar Aston Martin wees op de onduidelijke regels. Hierdoor besloten de stewards de straf terug te draaien en verviel de tweede straf van Alonso.

Om deze onduidelijkheid weg te nemen heeft de FIA nu een een nieuwe richtlijn rondgestuurd. Vanaf de Australische Grand Prix wordt het Alonso-incident wel strafbaar. In de richtlijn staat dat de teams de auto niet fysiek, met gereedschap of met andere apparatuur mogen aanraken. Om het duidelijk te maken benoemt men in de richtlijn dat een krik onder de categorie van andere apparatuur valt. Koelventilatoren mogen nog wel worden gebruikt, deze mogen de auto ook niet aanraken.

      Dit had al langer in het regelboek moeten staan. Voor zo’n grote club als de FIA met een juridische afdeling (denk ik), dan weet je toch dat je duidelijk moet zijn met regels. Het kan wel, of het kan niet. Gewoon zwart wit maken.

      Vind het net als Knookie geen verkeerd gegeven - hoe duidelijker de lijnen zijn, hoe minder die worden overschreden of mee gesjoemeld wordt. Het blijft een sport en daar zou geen interpretatie mogelijk mogen zijn. In een technische sport zoals F1 is dat heel moeilijk om te verwezenlijken maar het is een goeie evolutie.

      De regels waren in eerste instantie ook wel duidelijk, maar het probleem ontstond hier blijkbaar omdat er ooit in een vergadering was besloten dat de krik aan de voorkant van de auto wel gebruikt mocht worden om de auto juist te positioneren. Dat zorgde voor verwarring omdat het onderscheid tussen voor- en achterkant niet helemaal duidelijk was gemaakt. ;-)

      Ja en nee - de regels waren beknopt in het reglement opgenomen dat teamleden nergens mochten aankomen. Dat werd door de stewards die aangewezen waren op het circuit geëvalueerd en daar zijn ze vanaf begin dit jaar streng op gaan toekijken. De reden dat Alonso het podium terug kreeg was omwille dat er precedenten waren die bewezen dat de krik wel degelijk de wagen had geraakt bij eerdere races en bv niet de "wheelguns". Alpine kon die beelden niet voorleggen, Aston wel en dat is een dubieus gegeven. Daarom hebben ze dat nu in het reglement met meer detail omschreven net om dat dubieuze nooit meer voor te hebben - vanaf nu mag dus niks de wagen raken wat eigenlijk idem is aan de intentie van het reglement maar vanaf nu dus streng zal worden opgevolgd en ...nageleefd worden ... vandaar ja en nee ;-)
