AlphaTauri blij met De Vries: "Zijn feedback is goed"

Nyck de Vries heeft in de eerste drie Grands Prix van het seizoen nog geen punt gescoord. De Nederlandse AlphaTauri-coureur hoeft zich echter nog geen zorgen te maken. Bij AlphaTauri zijn ze zeer tevreden met hem, technisch directeur Jody Egginton is zeer te spreken over de feedback van De Vries.

De verwachtingen voor De Vries waren voorafgaand dit seizoen zeer hoog. De coureur uit Friesland debuteerde vorig jaar vrij onverwachts als invaller bij Williams op Monza. Hij scoorde daar direct punten en het was dan ook de verwachting dat hij dit jaar snel kon presteren. De AlphaTauri is echter niet zo snel als men had verwacht en De Vries en zijn teamgenoot Yuki Tsunoda hebben het soms zwaar.

Ervaring

Bij AlphaTauri heeft men geen boodschap aan het feit dat De Vries momenteel nog puntloos is. Hij presteert naar behoren en technisch directeur Jody Egginton laat aan Motorsport.com weten of De Vries naar verwachting presteert: "Dat denk ik wel. Nyck heeft heel veel ervaring. Hij had maar één Grand Prix gereden voordat hij bij ons kwam. Hij heeft echter ongelooflijk veel ervaring in andere formuleklassen en hij heeft ook veel ervaring door het testen van andere Formule 1-wagens."

Feedback

Vooral de feedback van De Vries is zeer sterk. De Nederlandse coureur krijgt veel complimenten over zijn manier van feedback geven. Ook technisch directeur Egginton is daar tevreden mee: "Zijn feedback is goed. Hij vormt een heel erg duidelijk beeld van wat hij van de auto verwacht terwijl hij de auto leert kennen. Hij helpt ons dan ook vooruit in de ontwikkeling. Hij heeft dus al veel bijgedragen, samen met Yuki."

Wanneer mijn Engelse collega's iets 'good' vinden bedoelen ze eigenlijk dat het niet goed is maar hoogstens matig.

Dus hoe 'good' is de feedback van Nyck nu echt?

Vergeet de fenomenale feedback van Latifi niet..... zit ie nog ergens in een raceauto ?? Eerst Yuki verslaan, daar begint het mee.

  Hm, eerst op gelijkwaardig niveau van Yuki komen en misschien later in het seizoen hem voorbij zien te streven. Het is niet realistisch om van De Vries te verwachten dat hij Yuki zomaar even verslaat in het begin van het seizoen.
  
  Yuki heeft inmiddels al een paar jaar ervaring in de F1 én bij het team, dus die heeft nog wel een voorsprong. En daarbij kan Yuki echt wel snel zijn, maar hij maakte gewoon nog te veel domme fouten. Als De Vries geen domme fouten maakt en verder dicht bij Yuki kan blijven qua snelheid, is het prima. Met consistente prestaties kan hij uiteindelijk Yuki qua punten zelfs nog wel voorbij, omdat ik verwacht dat Yuki nog wel eens een goede uitslag om zeep zal helpen.

  Klopt en idd Yuki is onstuimig, De Vries zal toch echt dit seizoen een paar race's positief moeten opvallen. Ik vind hem te passief, teveel op zeker rijden, doe af en toe iets anders dan Yuki, bijvoorbeeld met de banden of zo. We gaat ut meemaken............

  Wat verwacht je eigenlijk van een debutant ten opzichte van een coureur met een paar jaar F1 ervaring? En dan ook nog eens in, waarschijnlijk, de slechtste auto van het veld?
