Tsunoda geïrriteerd op de Vries na touché tijdens sprintrace

Na afloop van de sprintrace was AlphaTauri-coureur Yuki Tsunoda niet over zijn teamgenoot te spreken. Tijdens de start van de sprintrace werd hij namelijk door Nederlander Nyck de Vries de muur ingedrukt, waardoor Tsunoda schade aan zijn voorvleugel opliep en vervolgens na een crash tegen een muur iets verderop het circuit zijn sprintrace vroegtijdig moest staken.

Terwijl het gehele Formule 1-veld vrijwel zonder problemen na de startronde van de sprintrace weer over de finishstreep kwam gereden, bleef daar één man uitgezonderd. Dat was Yuki Tsunoda, die bij een hogesnelheidsbocht in sector twee tegen de muur aan botste. De oorzaak bleek al snel duidelijk; de Japanner had namelijk íets eerder tijdens die eerste ronde de helft van zijn voorvleugel verloren. De schuldige: teamgenoot Nyck de Vries, zo vertelt Tsunoda tegenover de camera na afloop van de sprint.

"Ik maakte contact met een coureur en daardoor raakte mijn voorvleugel beschadigd", begint Tsunoda tegenover Viaplay. Tijdens de sprintrace meldde hij al tegen zijn team dat de Vries hem had geraakt. "Ik had totaal geen ruimte, hij drukte me gewoon de muur in. Daardoor verloor ik mijn voorvleugel en eigenlijk was mijn race toen al voorbij. Het gebeurt de laatste jaren wel vaker dat ik hier een DNF heb, ook als ik een goede startpositie heb. Morgen start ik vanaf P8, hopelijk kan ik dan wel een goed resultaat behalen."

Na zijn botsing tegen de muur wist de Japanse jongeling de pitstraat te behalen. Wonderbaarlijk genoeg kreeg de coureur vers rubber en een nieuwe voorvleugel van zijn team, en werd vervolgens weer de baan opgestuurd, ondanks dat Tsunoda al tegen zijn team aangaf z'n bedenkingen over de staat van zijn AT04-auto te hebben.

Na het uitrijden van de pitstraat werd het al snel duidelijk dat Tsunoda's auto inderdaad niet meer te besturen viel, waardoor de raceleiding het team van AlphaTauri een boete van 5.000 euro gaf voor het weer naar buiten sturen van een onveilige auto.

  Gewoon een domme actie van Tsunoda die bij bocht 3 aan de buitenkant blijft zitten net met zijn voorvleugel naast de achterwielen van De Vries. Bij het uitkomen van de bocht blijft er onvoldoende ruimte over en raakt de voorvleugel van Tsunoda beschadigt. Daarna volgt nog een domme actie van Tsunoda die weet dat hij schade heeft aan zijn voorvleugel, al de pits in geroepen wordt en vervolgens met te veel snelheid rond blijft rijden en ondersturend in de muur belandt.

  Franz Tost vertelde net bij Viaplay dat Nyck onderstuurde en daardoor met zijn achterband de vleugel van Yuki stuk reed. Hij legde de schuld bij Nyck.
  Hij hoopt dat ze vandaag niet dicht bij elkaar in de buurt rijden, hahaha.
