Verstappen sluit Russell-hoofdstuk: "Focussen op vandaag"

Max Verstappen start de Azerbeidzjaanse Grand Prix vanmiddag vanaf de tweede plaats. De Nederlandse Red Bull Racing-coureur wil vandaag zijn derde zege van het seizoen pakken, maar hij rekent zich nog lang niet rijk. Hij wil dan ook niet meer terugkijken op de hectische sprintdag van gisteren.

Verstappen was na afloop van de Sprint woedend op Mercedes-coureur George Russell. De Britse coureur had Verstappen geraakt in een fel duel, hierdoor raakte de wagen van Verstappen beschadigd aan de vloer en de sidepod. Tijdens de Build-up gaf Verstappen aan dat alles weer in orde is: "We mogen deze onderdelen gewoon vervangen. We kunnen vandaag dus gewoon een sterke race rijden."

Russell

Verstappen heeft het hoofdstuk Russell dan ook afgesloten voor dit weekend. De Nederlandse regerend wereldkampioen heeft er geen zin in om zich er te druk over te maken. Tijdens de Build-up gaf Verstappen aan dat hij niet meer met Russell heeft gesproken: "Nee, dat is onnodig. We moeten ons focussen op wat we vandaag kunnen doen en we moeten proberen zoveel mogelijk punten te scoren."

Kansen

Verstappen opent vandaag de jacht op polesitter Charles Leclerc. In principe hoeft hij immers alleen de Monegask voorbij te steken om voor de zege te gaan. Verstappen rekent zich echter nog niet rijk: "In tegenstelling tot de Sprint van gisteren is het vandaag een heel erg lange race. Ik denkt dat er wel een aantal kansen liggen voor ons. Maar er kunnen hier ook een heleboel dingen gaan gebeuren."

      Deze onderdelen zijnervangen bij Verstappen, geen gridstraffen:
      - Headrest
      - TPMS antenne and associated ECU (dat is de connectie met de banden spanning sensoren in de band.)
      - ESS water header tank is koeling van het Energy Store System
      - En uiteraard een nieuwe sidepodcover (daar zat het gat) #F1

      Voor dat soort onderdelen een straf zou ook te gek voor woorden zijn..
      Verder zet het je wel aan het denken, als Max idd was uitgevallen met radiatorschade, dan moet je er toch vanuit gaan dat Russell dan wel zeker een straf had gekregen.
      Beetje dubbel allemaal, maar goed.

      Ik las gisteren dat Kym Illman zich door sommige wags laat betalen om op oproep foto's van hen te maken en te bewerken.
      Ook laten ze alleen hèm weten wanneer ze waar en hoe laat met hun coureur verblijven zodat hij foto's kan maken.
      Hij kan met geen enkele andere F1 fotograaf opschieten. Ze mijden hem daar uiteraard om.
      Dilara, Max zijn ex verbood hem om nog langer foto's van hen te maken. Hij stalkte hen. Schijnt dus geen fijne man/collega te zijn, it's all about the money.

    Perez 1, Alonso 2, Russel 3. Dat maakt het tenminste weer spannend dan als VER weer P1 pakt. En als mensen denken dat Perez geen enkele kans maakt op de titel, vergeet niet dat Rosberg in 2016 Hamilton omver blies en de titel pakte. Brazilie 2022, de fout dat Max maakte geeft Perez de stimulans om er volledig en genadeloos voor te gaan.

    De goede man Russell zag heethoofd Max en dacht "die jongen heeft verluchting nodig" en maakte vervolgens een verluchtingsgat in Max zijn auto, wat is het probleem toch.
